LightPointe Deploys 60 GHz Point to Point Radios to Buildings for Pierce Transit, Enabling 99.999% Reliable Internet Service, even in Rainy Washington State

SAN DIEGO and LAKEWOOD, Wash., March 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LightPointe, a manufacturer of millimeter wave point-to-point radios and laser bridges used for ultra high capacity building to building data network connectivity, security camera backhaul, and wireless backhaul for telecom service providers, announced that a public transit department in Washington State successfully deployed four 60 GHz radios to connect to nearby buildings. The AireLink 60 was installed to enable fast internet access and LAN connectivity for Pierce County Transit's office campus.

"We're honored that Pierce Transit, a nationally recognized leader in the public transportation industry, chose LightPointe's high capacity 60 GHz solution," said John Taylor, vice president of sales at LightPointe. "Within just two days, a two-person crew installed four AireLink 60 radios at four building locations, ensuring that Pierce Transit's employees were quickly up and running with always-on internet access."

LightPointe'sAireLink wireless bridges set a new benchmark in 60 GHz technology for building-to-building connectivity. Based on over two years of research and development, these backhaul radios are the most affordable, advanced 60 GHz radios available and include a choice of three antennas. The innovative high gain "Lens" antenna is so advanced it "acts" like a much larger antenna, outperforming previous generation flat antennas. The AireLink 60 is also available in an industrial version for manufacturing and production environments, including movable rail-based and robotic applications.

"We are very impressed with LightPointe's radio links, as service has not been interrupted since installation—even during heavy Pacific Northwest rain," said Rich Kemp, senior network engineer for IPKeys Technologies, a leading information technology integrator. "We had four LightPointe radios installed and operating flawlessly within two days. The AireLink 60 is easy to install and has an excellent user interface, and the system's nine levels of modulation handles inclement weather beautifully. It automatically adjusts for optimum data transmission speed in real time, handling even the worst weather. I will definitely recommend LightPointe again."
