Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) to Present User Friendly GaN-based Multi-mode Wireless Charging Solution at the 2016 Wireless Power Summit

Dr. Michael de Rooij, Vice President of Applications Engineering for EPC, will be presenting a multi-mode wireless power charging solution that works with either of the two wireless charging standards - Qi or Airfuel™ - at the Wireless Power Summit 2016 being held in Seattle, Washington November 10th and 11th at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel.

According to conference organizers, "The 8th annual Wireless Power Summit will focus on business strategies and technology developments in this rapidly changing field, with a focus on how wireless power has evolved to higher power applications including laptops, tools and vehicles." Leaders from major companies engaged in the development of wireless power products, such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard (News - Alert), Bosch, and Witricity, are also scheduled to deliver presentations at this conference.

Dr. de Rooij's presentation, "Bridging the Differences Between the Wireless Power Standards to Improve the User Experience," will focus on a multi-mode solution that provides a single system that accommodates both leading wireless power standards. This solution demonstrates the use of eGaN technology to create an easy-to-use customer experience regardless of the standard used in the receiving device. This multi-mode solution shifts the planning of wireless power to more pragmatic issues, such as how to reduce cost, improve efficiency and increase power, which will be the focus of the presentation.

Conference Presentation Schedule:

Presenter: Dr. Michael de Rooij
Thursday, November 10th (1:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.)

This presentation is based upon the GaN applications research and development for wireless power that Dr. de Rooij has detailed in his Wireless Power Handbook. This textbook is available at Amazon.com or Digi-Key Electronics.

About EPC

EPC is the leader in enhancement-mode gallium nitride based power management technology. EPC was the first to introduce enhancement-mode gallium-nitride-on-silicon (eGaN) FETs as power MOSFET replacements in applications such as DC-DC converters, wireless power transfer, envelope tracking, RF transmission, power inverters, remote sensing technology (LiDAR), and Class-D audio amplifiers with device performance many times greater than the best silicon power MOSFETs. EPC also has a growing portfolio of eGaN-based integrated circuits that provide even greater space, energy, and cost efficiency.
