Bioness® to Exhibit at American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Annual Assembly

VALENCIA, Calif., Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bioness, Inc., the leading provider of cutting edge, clinically supported rehabilitation therapies, today announced the Company will exhibit at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) Annual Assembly. The event will be held from October 20-23, 2016 in New Orleans. Attendees will have the chance to experience Bioness pain management and software therapy programs in booth #413 and also see the Bioness Technology Exhibit at booth #135.

With an estimated 100 million people suffering from chronic pain, contributing more than $280 billion in annual costs to the U.S. healthcare system, there's never been a greater need for innovative pain management options.1 PM&R physicians are in a unique position to balance the benefits of prescribing opioids with alternative treatment options that improve patients' long-term quality of life, especially with patients experiencing post-stroke shoulder pain.

During AAPM&R, Bioness will showcase the StimRouter Neuromodulation System, a minimally invasive, implantable, surgical device designed to address chronic peripheral nerve pain. The StimRouter targets pain at the point of origin, minimizes long-term healthcare costs and may provide pain relief when other treatments such as medications and injections have limited effect.2

PM&R physicians will also have a chance to explore clinical solutions from Bioness that support all stages of stroke rehabilitation and help patients become as independent as possible. Bioness solutions support recovery for the 5.5 million people who are affected by long-term disabilities from stroke. The Company's solutions help clinicians improve patient functional capabilities, quality of life and community reintegration.

Bioness has been an industry leader supporting the efforts of skilled acute and outpatient practices for more than a decade. In addition to the StimRouter, attendees can view the following Bioness offerings in AAPM&R booths #135 and #413:

Vector Gait and afety System®: is a state-of-the-art, UL® certified, rehabilitation technology designed to improve patient mobility and functional independence while increasing patient and clinician safety. Vector, is the global leader in robotic overground gait rehabilitation, capable of handling patients up to 500 lbs. and providing dynamic unloading up to 200 lbs. Vector integrates Outcome Measures Module that enables clinicians to run, record and document standardized tests to measure patient outcomes within the Vector software interface. The Timed Up and Go (TUG), 10 Meter Walk test, 5 Meter Walk test, 6 Minute Walk test, and 2 Minute Walk test are all included.

Bioness Integrated Therapy System (BITS®) Version 2: The second generation of BITS software is designed to address the changing dynamics of the rehabilitation market by improving clinician efficiency with automated progress reports, personalized therapy programs and standardized outcome measures. H200® Wireless Hand Rehabilitation System: With more than 20 peer-reviewed and published clinical studies, the H200 System has been clinically shown to improve hand and upper extremity function during all stages of stroke rehabilitation. The System delivers non-invasive, functional electrical stimulation (FES) to improve hand function, reduce muscle spasms and prevent disuse atrophy. H200 Wireless is widely used in the Veterans Administration to promote functional hand use in spinal cord injury patients that lack the ability to perform daily activities including grasping and releasing hand movements.

L300® Plus System: A state-of-the-art Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) system that uses mild stimulation of nerves and muscles to help people with foot drop and thigh weakness regain a more natural walking pattern (gait).
