ENET OF, Ethernity's Fully Programmable Switch Pipeline Supports OpenFlow

LONDON, October 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

Programmable OpenFlow Data Path Integrated With OpenFlow Agent Ver 1.4 Supporting Carrier Network and Datacenter Applications

Ethernity Networks Ltd, the innovative provider of Networking System-on-Chip Flow Processors, today announced availability of ENET-OF solution supporting OpenFlow ver 1.4 agent that operates seamlessly on top of ENET SDK, optimized for use in carrier networks and datacenters. Delivering complete OpenFlow switch pipeline on a low cost programmable logic enables Ethernity Networks to adapt products quickly to changing SDN and OpenFlow requirements. Ethernity Networks presents a live demo of ENET OF at Broadband World Forum 2016, Stand G10.

ENET OF significantly improves latency and throughput data by leveraging Ethernity patented Zero Copy architecture. The solution supports protocol offload and interworking of multiple protocols, including GRE, GTP, MPLS-TP, VXLAN, PBB, and PB.

ENET-OF allows service providers to provision, control, and manage network switch elements through a standardized instruction set based on OpenFlow specifications. Furthermore, with ENET-OF, service providers that plan to implement NFV will be ble to utilize ENET-OF to offload software functions of networking data path to a programmable hardware engine.

Ethernity ENET-OF comes with the reference platform supporting advanced functionalities including OAM, QoS, hierarchical ACL, routing, bridge, MPLS-TP, IP Fragmentation, and many others for 4G base stations, EPC and 3GPP protocols. Service providers now receive the scalable platform that is fully programmable both in terms of compliance to SDN and variations in SDN template definitions, and in terms of compliance with future versions of OpenFlow.

Ethernity Networks' approach to implementation of OpenFlow is template-oriented, which enables better interoperability and faster deployment. ENET patterns are called EFT (Ethernity Flow Templates). ENET OF implementation is aligned to ONF's Table Type Patterns (TTP) concept, the enhancement to OpenFlow framework, and allows controllers and switches to agree in advance on the forwarding pipeline details.

ENET-OF can be utilized for embedded OpenFlow switch and smart network adapter. Customers are invited to evaluate acceleration of OVS stack and functions such as Open NAT, firewall and more on the different Ethernet reference platforms supported under the ENET-OF.
