Working with a diverse list of rising talents like Mr. CarmackTerrace MartinJesse Boykins IIISOSUPERSAMYung Jake and more, Stashimi will host producer workshops, EP releases, intimate shows with incredible lineups, and a touring university lecture series with former NPR hip-hop podcast Microphone Check, created by Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest) and journalist Frannie Kelley.

"Artists drive culture, and Stashimi honors and reinforces that. Stashimi respects journalism, even thinks it's necessary, but its allegiance is to the musician. And we second that emotion," says Frannie Kelley and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

THE APP

In an overcrowded social and digital content ecosystem, the Stashimi app sends out customized bots to aggregate content and breaking news for over 50,000 artists into a real-time feed. Users can personalize their feed to display news, music, and video, while blocking out noise from artists who just don't fit their taste.

Features

  • Real time updates on 50,000 + artists
  • Access to 8MM music videos & 2MM pieces of audio content
  • Personalized content recommendations from 100,000+ data sources such as breaking news and trending artists
  • Real time concert and event updates
  • Proprietary smart aggregation technology that creates an "Artist Answer Graph"

THE CULTURE

Dedicated to supporting artists, Stashimi is starting local, collaborating with LA-based musicians, bands and collectives to produce interactive and engaging events with a shared vision. With three events executed this year – Forward Thinkers with Mr. Carmack, GARDEN party with SOSUPERSAM and a Secret [underground jazz] Show with Terrace Martin, Stashimi is quietly building its local commitment and support base.

"Stashimi helps artists with the distribution of their brilliant content ad connects fans directly to it." says Kosta Elchev, Stashimi CMO. "The first step is to support the local music scene – we'd be remiss in launching a musical entity without garnering the support of the community. The artists we're working with are changing what it means to be an independent artist in 2016, and we want to push music culture forward alongside them."

LOOKING FORWARD

Mic Check 1,2

After over three years at NPR, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Frannie Kelley are taking their hip-hop podcast on the road, reforming Microphone Check into a touring public conversation in collaboration with Stashimi. Over the next six months they'll be live onstage at four top-tier universities, in dialog with fellow musicians and intellectuals similarly dedicated to furthering the boundaries of music discourse.

Visual Story Telling

Stashimi is partnering with PRMRY to produce and capture music moments. To kick off the content series, Stashimi has created a short film documentary on what Japan looks like through the eyes of LA punk band, Trash Talk. Elements of Japanese underground culture are examined through music in a black and white style of film to be screened in November in Los Angeles.
