Taiwan Technology Standards Agency Introduces AirFuel Alliance's Resonant Wireless Charging StandardTAIPEI, Taiwan, Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The AirFuel™ Alliance, a global consortium of industry leaders focused on enabling and accelerating the adoption of wireless power technology, signed a Letter of Intent today with the Taiwan Association of Information and Communication Standards (TAICS), to establish a wireless charging ecosystem in Taiwan by introduction of AirFuel's resonant technology standard. The AirFuel-driven ecosystem will be capable of supporting consumers and businesses with interoperable wireless charging options in a variety of public places – from coffee shops to airports to hotels – thanks to the AirFuel resonant standard and integrated network. AirFuel Alliance chairman, Ron Resnick said, "By introducing AirFuel's resonant technology into Taiwan's wireless charging ecosystem, TAICS is further establishing Taiwan as a global innovator and leader in wirelessly powered deployments." The TAICS/ AirFuel agreement was formally signed by AiFuel Alliance board member Sanjay Gupta, and TAICS TMC Chair Chris Kao during a half-day industry event held at HTC's Taoyuan City plant. The event featured the launch of resonant public charging spots throughout Taoyuan City and new AirFuel wireless charging devices and applications, including the world's first resonant system to wirelessly charge notebook computers. Wireless charging based on AirFuel's resonant standard allows for multiple devices to be simultaneously charged over a longer distance with spatial freedom. For example, you can have multiple phones and laptop computers on your desk, all charging from a single charging platform mounted under the desktop. This gives consumers -- and businesses -- a level of flexibility and mobility not possible until now. About AirFuel Alliance The organization membership is made up of 170 leading technology and consumer electronics companies, including board of directors companies AT&T, Broadcom, Dell, Duracell, Flex, Gill Electronics, Integrated Device Technology, MediaTek, ON Semiconductor, Powermat Technologies, Qualcomm Inc., Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Semtech, Starbucks and WiTricity.
