Dr. Petit's responsibilities are to provide research services to our clients and partners, to develop original automotive research initiatives, and to build collaborative relationships with university and other academic organizations. To do this he will build a team of PhD-level automotive cybersecurity specialists to join him in a new research lab at Security Innovation's Wilmington, MA headquarters. Dr. Petit will work closely with Security Innovation's Seattle-based professional services team to leverage their considerable mobile, automotive and embedded expertise and will assume functional reponsibility for their ongoing Automotive Center of Excellence (ACE) research projects.

Dr. Petit has been with Security Innovation for just over a year, leading projects in the security and privacy of automated and connected vehicles. He has conducted extensive research on the detection of security vulnerabilities in automotive systems and has published 34 academic papers including his much publicized research on LIDAR-based autonomous vehicle cyber-attacks. Since then Dr. Petit has supported communications security design and cybersecurity analysis for light vehicles through OEM and NHTSA-sponsored projects.

Prior to joining Security Innovation, Dr. Petit was a Research Fellow in the Computer Security Group at University College Cork, Ireland. He previously served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Services, Cybersecurity, and Safety Group, University of Twente, The Netherlands, where he coordinated the European Union funded FP7 PRESERVE Connected Vehicle project. He received his PhD from Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France.

"Any successful technology company needs great R&D," says Pete Samson, Senior VP and General Manager for SI-Embedded. "At Security Innovation, we are blessed with an excellent development team and now we will have an equally strong research group. I am thrilled to be able to offer this very important assignment to Jonathan and look forward to announcing the innovative new products he will help us develop."
