Survey Shows IT Professionals Plan to Spend Most of 2016 Budget on Network Solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Talari Networks, the trusted software-defined WAN leader, today released survey results surrounding the trend with enterprise networks which found that more than 40 percent of respondents said they spent most of their 2015 IT budget on network solutions. In addition, 38 percent of respondents plan to spend most of their IT budget on the same thing this year (which was the most in each category).

The findings, gathered by SurveyGizmo, surveyed more than 400 IT professionals. Talari's survey shows that enterprise network technologies, like SD-WAN, are essential for businesses to provide networks that decrease latency, dropped calls and failovers while increasing customer satisfaction and reliability. According to the results, more than 95 percent of respondents state that a reliable network is critical to their business success.

"The adoption of reliable enterprise networks has begun to take off at full speed as businesses are tired of their network failing over and over during mission-critical scenarios," said Michele Hayes, VP of marketing and channel at Talari Networks. "More and more, we are seeing SD-WAN getting placed in the same budget as the MPLS, WAN OP ad Router Replacement budgets. And with nearly 75 percent of the respondents saying they would be willing to replace their MPLS for SD-WAN, IT is starting to make the necessary budget adjustments to acquire this critical technology."

Additional survey findings include:

• 90 percent of respondents will increase spending on network within next five years
• Almost 3/4ths of respondents would be interested in tearing out and replacing MPLS for SD-WAN
• Network disruption impacting critical applications is the biggest network pain point (35 percent of respondents)
• Increasing WAN reliability is the biggest WAN need (32 percent)
• More than 46 percent of respondents who are currently using an SD-WAN solution have implemented a hybrid approach
• Compatibility with other WAN and efficiently allowing load sharing of traffic across multiple WAN were the biggest two desires for SD-WAN
