New Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS Dramatically Improves Recovery Time SLAs of All Data and Applications

Today at Cisco (News - Alert) Live, Cisco's annual IT and communications conference, Veeam® Software, the innovative provider of solutions that deliver Availability for the Always-On Enterprise™, announced Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS, a hardware and software solution that combines Cisco Unified Computing Systems (UCS) and Veeam technologies. The new solution, available through Avnet, helps enterprises meet the most rigorous recovery time and point objectives (RTPO™) required for tier-1 applications and data, while also leveraging the performance, flexibility and reliability of modular, high-density storage servers to protect VMware vSphere and Microsoft (News - Alert) Hyper-V environments. The Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS provides a complete, easy-to-deploy solution based on Cisco validated architecture and pre-integrated by Avnet.

"Veeam took the complexity out of legacy backup and replication for virtualized environments long ago with our Availability solutions," said Andy Vandeveld, vice president of global alliances at Veeam. "Veeam and Cisco have been working together for years on 'meet in the channel' validated solutions, and this is the next logical step in the evolution of the relationship: delivering an availability solution directly to enterprise customers and service providers on high-performance hardware from Cisco that is pre-configured and optimized by Avnet. By providing fast, flexible, and reliable recovery of virtualized applications and data, our combined technologies help enterprises overcome the challenges of maintaining 24.7.365 availability."

The Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS leverages Veeam Backup & Replication™ Enterprise Plus software and either Cisco C240 or Cisco C3260 for a complete data availability solution. The joint solution approach simplifies the solution design, sizing, configuration and purchase process, allowing Avnet partners to quickly deliver Veeam-powered availability based on Cisco's high storage density C-Series rackservers built for performance, scalability, and manageability.

"In the always-on era, enterprises are faced with the challenge of continuous operations and data availability," said Satinder Sethi, Vice Prsident of Data Center Solutions Engineering at Cisco. "As enterprises modernize their data centers, they need a new approach to managing risk and increasing data availability. Together, the Cisco UCS platform and Veeam Availability software help customers realize the full potential of virtualization and converged infrastructure by minimizing risk, decreasing downtime and easily adapting to business changes."

"The new Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS offers our partners a great solution, improving a customer's ability to quickly recover critical data and applications in the event of an unexpected loss," said Phillip Privett, vice president of Avnet's Cisco solutions business unit in the Americas. "Our combined technical teams have fully integrated these solutions to give our partners options for a wide range of IT environments - those from small businesses to large corporations. With these pre-developed solutions, our partners can simplify the installation process, allowing the faster deployments and lower operational costs most customers want.

"Veeam and Cisco together are an ideal solution for enterprises modernizing their infrastructures and those adopting converged and hyper-converged infrastructures," said Jason Buffington, Principal Analyst at ESG. "The Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS leverages the flexible virtualization protection and recovery features of Veeam, with hardware that is also optimized for both data protection and server virtualization. Enterprises can modernize their data protection as they modernize their infrastructure."

iland, an award-winning enterprise cloud hosting provider with global datacenter locations, moved from SAN storage to Cisco UCS C3160 storage servers integrated with Veeam Availability solutions. The move has enabled iland (News - Alert) to restore virtual machines twice as fast, at a competitive price. "Veeam consistently pushes the envelope in bringing sophisticated backup and disaster recovery functionality to enterprises and cloud providers, alike, and that innovation has helped iland cement its position as a leader in BaaS and DRaaS," said Justin Giardina, CTO at iland. "Through our continued collaboration with Veeam, Cisco and their extended channel partner networks, we're able to ensure all companies have fast, secure and cost-efficient access to the advanced technology required to protect business against today's pervasive threats."

The Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS is expected to be available Q3 2016 in North America through Avnet in various configurations ranging from 36TBs to 1PB. For more information, please visit https://www.veeam.com/veeam-cisco-ucs.html or visit Veeam at Booth No. 2537 at Cisco Live.
