WHO:

Gene Stevens, CTO and Co-founder of ProtectWise, has more than 20 years experience in software development, cloud computing, security-as-a-service, and distributed systems. Prior to founding ProtectWise, he was founder and CTO at TagLabs, a mobile tagging company. Stevens has also served in senior engineering roles at McAfee (News - Alert), MX Logic and GDX.

Dr. Paul Vixie, CEO of Farsight Security, has been inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame for his pioneering work on DNS. Previously, he was President, Chairman and Founder of Internet Systems Consortium (ISC), and President of MAPS, PAIX and MIBH, and CTO of Abovenet/MFN. He has served as Chairman and on the Board of Trustees of ARIN (News - Alert). He is a founding member of ICANN Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC) and ICANN Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). Paul is also the primary author and technical architect of BIND 8 and influenced BIND 9 and 10.

WHAT:

Enterprises and vendors are implementing advanced new investigation techniques to detect and respond to cyberattacks earlier in the kill chain. One approach, Cross-Customer Correlation, has proven very effective at uncovering threats, anomalies and other attack patterns that are often overlooked during the initial stages of security investigations. In this session, Stevens and Vixie will present a case study and demonstrate how the combination of full packet network activity and historical passive DNS data from one company was used to uncover a previously undetected attack in another company's network .
