Integris Health Gains IT Efficiencies, Eliminates Downtimes, Increases Physician Satisfaction with Fujifilm Synapse VNA

Booth #4165, South Building, Hall A-- The TeraMedica Division of FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. will present Synapse® VNA version 6.0, the next generation of its enterprise-wide medical information and image management solution, at the 101st annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) held November 29-December 4, 2015 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.

"Fujifilm is leading the way in the VNA space and pushing the boundaries of the technology," said Greg Strowig, Executive Director, FUJIFILM TeraMedica Inc. "Our latest version of Synapse VNA reflects our commitment to delivering a best-in-class solution that helps healthcare organizations be more efficient with the management and sharing of data and images as well as EHR integration."

Synapse VNA version 6.0 offers major new features including a completely re-designed demographics quality assurance (QA) user interface (UI) and support for VNA role-bashed dashboards. Version 6.0 also includes internationalization features to support ideographic and phonetic field character set representations and end user UI translations for the Japanese market.

Dax Ewbank, enterprise solutions architect at INTEGRIS Health based in Oklahoma City, OK, was responsible for the deployment of Synapse VNA and an enterprise imaging strategy for his organization's nine hospitals. The health system had multiple different PACS, various archives, and was experiencing ongoing unavailability of relevant prior studies.

"It was like managing 5 or 6 different PACS at once, all with their own idiosyncracies and problems which would have a domino effect across the other PACS, so we'd have multiple downtimes a month," said Ewbank. "As we were able to consolidate and re-architect our PACS with Synapse VNA as a solid foundation, it made management of our PACS a lot easier, a lot more purposeful, and we no longer experience infrastructure-related downtimes."

Ewbank attributesseveral additional benefits to Synapse VNA including more efficient storage and retrieval of data, time savings by eliminating the need to manually search for priors, improved physician workflow, and increased physician satisfaction. Moreover, says Ewbank, INTEGRIS is benefiting from a streamlined approach to EMR replacement because Synapse VNA replaces the need to integrate the EMR with each of the hospitals' various imaging platforms.

"In the past, making plans that included image availability wasn't something we could do on an enterprise level. Now with Synapse VNA it's a given; that's where you start the planning," said Ewbank. "The Fujifilm TeraMedica team is helpful in making sure that all those integration points work out without a hitch. Their responsiveness and knowledge is always there for us to use."
