Clinithink: Next Generation Online Tool Structures Clinical Narrative for Free

Clinical Natural Language Processing (NLP) firm, Clinithink, has announced an upgrade of their web-based platform, CLiX ONLINE, to give healthcare organisations access to more actionable information from their data. The free service is built on the company's latest clinical NLP technology that automatically structures clinical free text to common medical terminologies that can then be analysed or queried to give users insights into their clinical and business performance.

The new release of CLiX ONLINE went live on November 13, 2015 and is believed to be the first platform of its kind to make NLP technology so readily available to the healthcare industry to automatically structure data. Approximately 80% of all clinical data is unstructured and largely stored as physician's patient notes. Inability to access this information in a standard format has left numerous questions unanswered for healthcare managers and executives wanting to improve quality and efficiency at both a clinical and operational level.

CLiX ONLINE offers users the option to use CLiX NOTES - a tool that automatically returns structured output in a medical classification or terminology of their choice. Users can enter clinical narrative manually or upload source files. The output can be analysed immediately or run through the platforms query engine to demonstrate the value that's untapped in unstructured data. The predfined queries include Diabetes, Medications and Procedures. Users can ask the system specific questions related to diabetic or pre-diabetic conditions, current and planned medications and all procedures, past and planned.

For developers, CLiX ONLINE offers users access to CLiX APIs via CLiX PRO. Users can review and test API calls without writing code in addition to providing information of API call parameters and structures returned by the CLiX engine.

"We're excited to offer the healthcare industry a mechanism to pull pertinent information from their unstructured data with speed and accuracy. The capability of the latest release of CLiX ONLINE is a unique opportunity for many to query their data and get answers they can use to give users the kind of insight they need to transform their organisation," said Clinithink CEO, Dr Chris Tackaberry. "Ultimately, the ability to leverage your unstructured data to inform point-of-care clinical decision support and realise care coordination, can have a marked difference on patient outcomes and how we run healthcare organisations today."

Both CLiX NOTES and CLiX PRO are available through the CLiX ONLINE platform at no cost to the user and supported by comprehensive demonstration videos and examples, FAQs and in-person contact. The platform is compliant with the latest version of SNOMED CT terminology and supports US and UK English spelling. For more information visit www.clinithink.com/clixonline
