IEEE 5G Silicon Valley Summit Fosters Collaboration on Emerging Technology Issues

IEEE, the world's largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced the third in a series of one-day summits addressing 5G+ technology. Co-sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (IEEE ComSoc) and the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), the upcoming IEEE 5G Silicon Valley Summit will be held at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA (News - Alert) on Monday, 16 November 2015, and provides a platform for industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from the industry and academic community to collaborate and exchange ideas that address emerging 5G+ technology issues, and that may help in drive standards development and deployment.

"IEEE is at the forefront of building communities around emerging technologies and encouraging open dialogue and debate to ensure solutions and standards are developed based on a broad understanding how a new technology will make an impact initially, and in the future," said Robert S. Fish, vice president, Standards Activities, IEEE Communications Society. "As we move towards 5G+, these summits become increasingly valuable by creating an environment where all participants can share ideas and stay abreast of the latest advancements and issues related to 5G+."

The IEEE 5G Silicon Valley Summit's agenda has a full day of speakers from industry and academia, including the keynote addresses:

  • 5G Technology - Breaking Grounds from Thingbook to the Tactile Internet - Prof. Gerhard P. Fettweis, Vodafone
  • Disruptive Technology: Is 5G The Next Frontier? - Prof.Mischa Dohler, University College London
  • Multiuser MIMO for MM Band - Prof. Arogyaswami Paulraj, Stanford University
  • 5G: Path to Zettabyte Mobile Internet - Dr. Farooq Khan, President Samsung (News - Alert) Research
