IGEL Technology Simplifies and Centralizes IT Management with the Introduction of the IGEL Management Interface

IGEL Technology Sales Corp. today announced the introduction of the IGEL Management Interface (IMI), a pioneering solution that streamlines the management of endpoint devices by enabling IT organizations to integrate the IGEL Universal Management Suite 5 (UMS 5) with their existing enterprise management systems.

The IGEL IMI is part of IGEL's entry this week into the workspace management market with the launch of UMS 5. Providing enhanced ease of use and functionality, the IMI can be leveraged by IT organizations to implement new, customized workflows that have not previously been mapped in the IGEL UMS console. As a standardized Representational State Transfer (REST) API, the IMI eases the integration of company-specific scripts or programs, and helps large enterprises quickly and more easily manage all of their IGEL thin and zero clients within IT infrastructure utilizing existing systems, such as Microsoft (News - Alert) SCCM or IBM Tivoli.

The IMI is designed for enterprises and large, distributed client infrastructures with branch offices, as well as systems integrators and suppliers of Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) and Client-as-a-Service (Claas) solutions serving multiple customers. Typical uses for the IMI include real-time information monitoring of equipment, and/or the compilation of important data for use in management dashboards. Additionally, IMI can be leveraged to generate partially, or fully automated workflows and to provide selectedor reduced settings for administrators of the organization's sub-regions.

"For many years IGEL customers have used our UMS thin client management platform to manage Windows and Linux-based thin clients at a deep granular level, while providing enterprise-level and centralized control for zero touch rollouts, administration and updates," said Gary Sharp (News - Alert), Sales Director for North America, IGEL Technology. "However, as thin client technology has matured for enterprise customers, there has been greater demand from larger organizations to integrate IGEL's UMS into their existing IT management frameworks. With the introduction of IMI, customers can now leverage the best thin client management platform for thin devices, while retaining the technical skills and financial investment in their existing desktop management solutions."

Availability, Licensing and Renewals

The IGEL Management Interface will be available starting Oct. 14, 2015 through Authorized IGEL partners in North America. The manufacturer's suggested resale price is $10,490, and includes an annual license, which is required to receive software updates and enhancements. Subscriptions to IMI can be renewed annually through Authorized IGEL partners for $3,569 per year. IGEL UMS 5.x, or later must be installed in order to access IMI's integrated functionality with UMS. The new IGEL UMS 5 can be downloaded for free at www.myigel.com.

IMI supports all IGEL Universal Desktop thin clients with a Linux or Microsoft® Windows Embedded operating system, IGEL zero clients and all terminal devices that have been standardized using the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (UDC).
