IGEL's UMS 5 integrates with IGEL Management Interface (IMI) and IGEL Unified Management Agent (UMA) for Windows 7, two strategic IGEL innovations that support the simple, yet optional integration of UMS 5 into existing enterprise management systems. With UMS 5, channel partners and their end-user customers can more efficiently manage their workspace environments, while reducing the cost, time and effort associated with remote endpoint management. UMS 5 also includes performance improvements, enhanced functionality, and a newly designed user interface with added language support for Spanish and Italian.

Integration with Existing Enterprise Management Systems

This new functionality is ideal for customers that want to continue to operate their PCs and notebooks within the Windows operating system, yet also benefit from the IGEL UMS centralized management capabilities.

"Through this latest update to the IGEL UMS, we are hoping to build upon the success of previous generations of our UMS, and further empower our customers manage their entire workspace environments through the optimization and standardization of the management of IGEL thin clients and Windows 7 devices," continued Sharp. "And, for our channel partners that offer client-as-a-service models, IGEL UMS provides robust, secure and cost-effective endpoint management for these solutions."

Remote, Secure and Central Management for Windows 7

The IGEL Unified Management Agent (UMA) for Windows 7 enables devices installed with Windows Professional or Embedded Standard Windows 7 to be remotely administered, and securely and centrally managed using IGEL's standardized UMS console, alongside thin and zero clients and PCs and notebooks loaded with the IGEL Linux operating system.

Functional Improvements Ease Burden for Network Administrators

New comparison and import functions available through UMS 5 make it easier for network administrators to evaluate configuration profiles and update older configurations more quickly. Additionally, with UMS 5's new import functionality, the current configuration of an IGEL client installed in the field can be imported as a profile into the UMS, and easily assigned to other clients, or a client group, by drag and drop.

Improved Performance with a Modern User Interface

UMS 5 improves performance and enhances navigation capabilities through a modern user interface featuring newly redesigned icons and a new algorithm for placing and locating files.
