Push Technology Introduces Extreme Development and Security in Diffusion 5.5

Push Technology today announced the latest version of its enterprise-grade Internet Messaging solution, Diffusion. Designed to handle the extremes of data delivery over the Internet, Diffusion 5.5 now includes a JavaScript Unified API for extreme development and a new role-based security model for extreme security.

Sean Bowen, CEO, Push Technology, said, "We turbocharge apps that run over the Internet by helping our customers stream data to and from tens of thousands-even millions-of devices. Diffusion already delivers extreme data management, extreme quality of service and extreme scale and speed. Now, with Diffusion 5.5, we have incorporated more extreme features to deliver a feature-rich Internet Messaging solution able to Push Past Boundaries encountered when operating in a mobile-obsessed, everything-connected world."

Extreme Development - Unified API and New API Support

By delivering Diffusion 5.5 with a JavaScript version of the Unified API that contains both control and standard capabilities, customers can control Diffusion remotely, offering a cleaner way to build applications. Diffusion 5.5 also includes APIs for Windows and OSX support for the C Unified API, Proxy support (.NET (News - Alert) Unified API) and Flow control (.NET Unified API).

Andy Piper, Chief Technology Officer, Push Tchnology, said, "With the new API features, our customers can now develop applications using our Internet Messaging service, Reappt, and then switch seamlessly to our on-premise solution, Diffusion."

Extreme Security - Role-based model

Diffusion is now secured using a role-based model where actions performed on the server by client sessions are controlled by permissions.

Piper continued, "Security is clearly an essential component for every application developed. The new capabilities allow much finer-grained control over who can do what in a Diffusion server. The benefits are that organizations can ensure data is only distributed to end users based on the permissions they have within an organization. That helps not only reduce the amount of data sent, but, more importantly, helps with compliance across regulated industries like financial services, healthcare and utilities, for example."

Using the role-based permission model, Diffusion 5.5 also introduces console authentication for end users to authenticate with a principal and a password. This new security feature ensures that only users with appropriate and authenticated permission can view information or take actions in the Diffusion console.

Bowen concluded, "We are amidst an extreme app explosion. However, many organizations are stuck with 'problem apps' that deliver poor consumer and employee experiences. What's needed is a way to exchange data efficiently and intelligently at scale with devices, browsers and other applications over a shared network that's full of unknowns, the Internet. Push Technology offers this capability so that applications critical to revenue growth, customer engagement, and business operations are released faster and more securely. The result? Our customers deliver 'dream apps' critical to breakout moves."
