Appcito Introduces Application Delivery Services for VMware-Based Enterprise Clouds

VMworld 2015 US (booth 320) - Appcito, provider of a cloud application delivery solution, today announced CAFE for VMware, which provides new application delivery capabilities that integrate load balancing, application analytics and application security services including web application firewall and DDoS. With support for VMware vSphere and vCloud environments, CAFE supports traditional web applications as well as new challenges arising from East-West traffic between micro-services inside applications and the containerization of applications. Additionally, the multi-tenant solution allows IT organizations to provide self-provisioning of these application services to their application teams.

Managing Application Traffic Flows

Application traffic flows are becoming less deterministic, and infrastructure architects can no longer rely solely on centralized appliances to provide the necessary application delivery and security services for their cloud environments. Additionally, today's big-data tools and elastic resources in the cloud provide an opportunity to collect and analyze detailed application traffic data for real-time monitoring, analysis, remediation and action.

Benefits of using Appcito CAFE for VMware environments:

  • Unified application services providing load balancing, web application firewall, DDoS and front-end optimization delivered on a per application basis;
  • De-centralized policy enforcement with centralized control enabling policy control for IT administrators, but flexibility for application teams to set/change policy for their own applications without affecting other applications;
  • Support for traditional, micro-services or container based applications;
  • API driven, with programmable policies and integrated with common DevOps tools for orchestration and continuous deployment; and,
  • Big data style application analytics providing visibility, insights and closed loop application delivery.

Appcito's cloud-native CAFE solution is extremely simple to deploy and operate and includes capabilities such as built-in high availability, auto-scaling, the ability to work seamlessly across multi-cloud environments, and drives closer integration between security and application delivery teams. Enterprises using VMware virtualization including VMware NSX network level services can benefit from CAFE's complimentary Layer-7 application availability, security and analytics services.

Optimized for VMware hybrid cloud environments, CAFE for VMware offers support for on premise and public clouds allowing users to develop applications and deliver them in any public cloud, and bring the application back to the enterprise without changing delivery policies. Additionally, CAFE provides a very attractive aggregate consumption based pricing model versus legacy per-appliance or VM based pricing.

"Market forces are driving enterprise IT and application teams to become agile, resulting in the adoption of public and private cloud for infrastructure services," said Kamal Anand (News - Alert), co-founder and CEO of Appcito. "Appcito's CAFE now enables IT teams to easily deliver, and application teams to self-provision and consume critical application-specific availability, security and analytic services, leading to higher agility and improved performance and security of the applications."
