The new update includes massive improvements to the Soul Break system. Some pieces of equipment hold powerful Soul Breaks – equip them on the right character and unleash devastating Soul Breaks in battle! These Soul Breaks can now be mastered so that characters can use their Soul Breaks even when not using the corresponding equipment. These changes also enable players to choose from several different Soul Breaks mid-battle, with the correct strategic choices for each scenario leading the way to victory.

Lightning, the star of FINAL FANTASY XIII, will also make her long-awaited appearance in the game, as will Eiko from FINAL FANTASY IX. Additionally, continual improvements to the user interface and tweaks to the in-game battles make it easier than ever to jump in and start playing.
