ReSound® Recognizes Global Accessibility Awareness Day

ReSound is pleased to support Global Accessibility Awareness Day, reaffirming the company's commitment to advance matters of access for people with hearing loss. ReSound is leading a new era of Smart Hearing with forward-thinking technologies that revolutionize the way people address their hearing. In 2013, the company introduced the world's smartest hearing aid, and the first Made for iPhone (News - Alert)® hearing aid with ReSound LiNX™, and has built on its success with the new ReSound LiNX2™, giving the most advanced, natural hearing experience to users looking to connect, interact, and engage with their world on equal footing as everyone else.

"Everything we design at ReSound is developed with the wearer in mind, so accessibility is always a priority for us," said Morten Hansen, Vice President of Partnerships and Connectivity for GN ReSound. "We spend a lot of time talking to our hearing aid users in order to best understand what people want and need, and use that knowledge to create innovative new solutions. We recently used Apple's (News - Alert) accessibility API to develop the ReSound Smart app for Apple Watch, and believe collaborations like this help open the door to what is possible in terms of giving people more meaningful solutions to meet their needs."

The ReSound Smart™ app for Apple Watch lets users take advantage of seamless, on-he-go control of their hearing aids right from their wrist. This marks the latest of the company's efforts to make Smart Hearing aids even smarter, and to push the limits of accessibility and empowerment for people seeking to take control over their hearing loss.

The newly launched ReSound LiNX2 family of hearing aids takes the user experience to the next level with a broader range of models and prices, meeting 90 percent of hearing loss concerns. ReSound LiNX2 includes Spatial Sense, a new feature offering improved spatial awareness. Wearers can experience direct sound streaming from iPhone, iPad and iPod touch without the need for an additional device, allowing people to talk on the phone, make FaceTime (News - Alert) calls, listen to music and even stream turn-by-turn directions directly through their hearing aids. And for the first time, people who prefer to wear custom molded, in-the-ear hearing aids can also enjoy Made for iPhone functionality.

"ReSound is dedicated to empowering people with hearing loss by providing the most advanced, innovative solutions possible," said GN ReSound CEO Anders Hedegaard. "We understand the key role that connectivity plays in peoples' lives and are committed to building connectivity into our Smart Hearing solutions, giving wearers the freedom to personalize their individual hearing experience. Whether that is through the ReSound Smart app for smartphone devices, or on-the-go accessibility from the app on Apple Watch, we are always looking to develop forward-thinking solutions."
