Analyst Update: Results,   Strategic Partnerships Debt Offerings, Ratings Downgrade, and Changes to he Board

U.S. stocks tumbled on Thursday as Fed remained apprehensive about the interest rate outlook amid weaker than expected US first quarter economic data. The NASDAQ Composite was down 1.64%, to finish at 4941.42; the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 1.08%, to 17,840.52, and the S&P 500 ended 1.01% lower, at 2,085.51. Most importantly, the NASDAQ biotech index dropped 3.05% on Thursday and was down 8.1% in the past one week, led by disappointing earnings. European stocks gained on Thursday, supported by the strong euro and news of euro bloc's recovery from four consecutive months of deflation. Germany's DAX 30 rose 0.19%; France's CAC 40 jumped 0.14%, and the London's FTSE 100 closed 0.21% higher. Meanwhile, Asian markets mostly disappointed on Thursday. Japan's Nikkei, Australia's S&P ASX and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index all fell on Thursday.


Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC) held a special meeting of the Board of Directors on April 24, 2015 and approved eight candidates for Board of Directors, including three current Directors Mr. Morris Chang, Mr. F.C. Tseng, Mr. Johnsee Lee, and four current Independent Directors Sir Peter Leahy Bonfield, Mr. Stan Shih, Mr. Thomas Engibous and Ms. Kok-Choo Chen, as well as a candidate for Independent Director Mr. Michael Splinter.

Micron Technology, Inc. (Micron) on April 27, 2015 announced that it has priced the sale of $550 million aggregate principal amount of its 5.250% senior notes due 2024 and $450 million aggregate principal amount of its 5.625% senior notes due 2026 (together know as the "Notes").

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (Cadence) announced its first quarter 2015 results on April 27, 2015. The Company's revenue came in at $411 million, higher compared to revenue of $379 million reported for the same period in 2014 and beating the Thomson estimate of $409.11 million.

On April 21, 2015 Moody's Investor service lowered the rating of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD). Moody's has lowered the corporate family rating to B3 from B2, and the ratings on the senior unsecured notes to Caa1 from B2. The speculative grade liquidity rating was affirmed at SGL-2 and the outlook was changed to negative from stable.

Alcatel Lucent (Alcatel) announced on April 28, 2015, that it has inked an turnkey agreement with Algerian Ministry of Post, Information Technology and Communications for the deployment of the Orval system, an over 560 km fiber-optic undersea cable that will link Oran in Algeria to Valencia, Spain. The Company expects the work to complete in 2016.
