Birch Completes Back-Office Systems Integration Efforts

ATLANTA, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Birch Communications, Inc., ("Birch") a leading nationwide provider of communications, network and cloud services to small, mid-sized, enterprise and wholesale businesses, announced that it has completed the integration of its back-office systems related to its recent acquisition of Cbeyond which closed in Q3 '14. These successful integration efforts have effectively realigned the combined organizations of the two companies in order to support a customer base that has almost tripled within the last twelve months.

Initially, the two Billing / Care systems were integrated quickly into one Billing / Care system within only 90 days of closing. Today marks the end of our more fulsome effort to integrate all other back- office systems, including: HRIS, Accounting/Finance, Warehouse Mgmt and Legal. The completion of these integration efforts builds greater operational efficiency which is required to compete at the highest level in our industry.

"Large-scale integrations are a dominant fixture within the context of the Birch business model," said Tom Stachowiak, Vice President of Infrmation Technology. "With more than 23 integrations behind us, we were able to direct this consolidation effort like others preceding it – with much finesse. We began this integration by qualifying our most important systems and identifying application redundancies between the two organizations. In addition, this integration served as an opportunity to evaluate all of our customer-facing assets. In doing so, we streamlined portal configurations and the provisioning of our TotalCloud® PBX capabilities."

As a result, Birch now boasts a nationwide IP-Network with 600+ Points of Presence (POPs) in 22 states, spanning 31,000 fiber route miles. Birch's product portfolio encompasses everything from analog phone service, T1s, broadband and mobile services to best-in-class advanced business services, including: cloud PBX, VoIP, Metro Ethernet, Metro Fiber, MPLS, file storage, managed hosting, data center, and IT services.

"This major integration project had an aggressive timeline, but our talented teams of engineers and IT professionals performed according to plan to make it a success. The compatibility and scalability of both companies' architecture enabled us to complete the integration in record time," said Ashish Parikh, Director of Software Development at Birch. "Today, our customers benefit from a more extensive portfolio of products and services to choose from, coupled with greater functionality with which to use them."
