Micrium's uC/Probe Bundled with Cypress PSoC 4 M-Series Pioneer Kit

Micrium Inc. and Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today announced that Cypress's PSoC® 4 M-Series Pioneer Kit will include a free one-month license of Micrium's uC/Probe™ Graphical LiveWatch™ Professional Edition data visualization software. Using uC/Probe with Cypress's Pioneer Kit accelerates design and debugging of PSoC 4 M-Series devices. uC/Probe enables engineers to graphically visualize firmware parameters of the PSoC 4 M-Series device by dragging and dropping the variables on to the virtual controls and indicators, including buttons, gauges, charts and numeric indicators.

"uC/Probe allows you to easily and effortlessly display and change any variable in your PSoC 4-based application without requiring you to instrument your code," said Jean Labrosse, president and CEO of Micrium. "Using uC/Probe with Cypress's Pioneer Kt showcases how it can extend the capabilities of complementary debugging software by providing instant control over global variables in a real-time and non-intrusive way. This translates into reduced development and debug time, leading to faster time to market."

"Micrium's uC/Probe enhances the ease-of-use of our PSoC 4 M-Series Pioneer Kit by enabling firmware debug using fast and simple drag-and-drop design," said John Weil, vice president of PSoC marketing at Cypress. "Our PSoC 4 M-Series enables designers to create world-class products with differentiated and customized user interfaces, added functionality and increased performance."

The PSoC 4 M-Series Pioneer Kit features the new PSoC 4200M device - an ARM (News - Alert)® Cortex®-M0 CPU with 128KB Flash, 55 GPIOs and new peripherals including RTC, CAN and a DMA controller. The CY8CKIT-044 Pioneer Kit also features an innovative capacitive touch-sensing CapSense Gesture Pad, two CapSense proximity headers and a series of on-board sensors, including an ambient light sensor, a 3-axis accelerometer and a temperature sensor. All of these features, along with Arduino, Digilent Pmods and Raspberry Pi headers, make the kit a very flexible prototyping board.

uC/Probe is a Windows application that graphically visualizes the internal registers and memory locations of the target device. This allows users to read and write the memory of any embedded target processor during run-time, and map those values to a set of virtual controls and indicators placed on a graphical dashboard.
