International Plastics Launches New Shopping Enabled Digital Catalog

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- International Plastics introduces a new "shopping enabled digital catalog" for its plastic bags and packaging supply products.  This new digital catalog is different from standard digital .pdf or Flash flip-page catalogs that most catalogers and businesses make available on their websites.

This web-based catalog is entirely HTML 5 compliant and works on mobile devices like smart phones and tablets. It has hyperlinks that allow a user to get more detailed information on product descriptions inside the catalog pages along with the ability for the user to add them to a shopping cart.  Once finished shopping, the user simply clicks the checkout button to automatically transfer their order into the secure, corporate, e-commerce cart.

The 50-year-old company has traditionally marketed its products via direct mail and B2B catalogs. International Plastics still produces and mails catalogs to its customers and uses them to prospect. However, as the costs of paper, printing and postage have increased the company started developing innovative online markting techniques.

In 2006, International Plastics began investing heavily in all aspects of online marketing to complement prospecting efforts through catalogs and direct mail. Utilizing search engine marketing through paid ads on major search engines, along with optimization for organic search results has helped IP offset cataloging costs while obtaining higher response rates than traditional direct mail marketing.

Mark McClure, VP of Operations says, "It's all about meeting the buyer in the marketplace when they are searching for your products. Traditional analog marketing is good for branding, but not as effective for response rates versus the associated costs. This is partially due to timing. Our offer might not coincide with the prospect or customer's buying cycle or need, even if we are able to get in front of the right buyer.  Even so, buyers still like a traditional catalog. Our new shopping enabled online catalog is the best of both worlds."

International Plastics enlisted the help of Magazooms http://www.magazooms.com to develop their digital shopping enabled catalog.
