Pacific Life Announces Assistant Vice President Promotions
Pacific Life Insurance Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
James T. Morris recently announced ten assistant vice president
promotions. The following promotions will be effective April 1, 2015.
Darrell Dell' (News - Alert)Andrea, FLMI, CLU, to assistant vice
president, Compliance, Retirement Solutions Division Mr.
Dell'Andrea joined Pacific Life in 1996 as a compliance manager in the
Retirement Solutions Division and was promoted to director in 2002. He
is responsible for managing the consumer relations compliance unit which
includes negotiating compliance-related settlements and resolutions,
customer complaints and escalation, subpoena and litigation inquiries
and responses, anti-fraud special investigative unit, and the delivery
of regulatory compliance and regulatory affairs services and support. In
his new role, Mr. Dell'Andrea will also oversee the product compliance
unit. His responsibilities will include active involvement in the
product development process, management of all form filing initiatives
with regulators, and the issuing of approved contracts in accordance
with the terms of sale and regulations. Mr. Dell'Andrea lives in Irvine
and received a bachelor's degree in history from Cleveland State
University.
Dominic Faso to assistant vice president, Treasury & Investment
Operations, Corporate Division Mr. Faso, a resident of
Aliso Viejo, joined Pacific Life in 1997 as a business service
representative. Over the years, Mr. Faso advanced through a variety of
cash management and investment analysis-related roles. In 2007 he was
promoted to director of Treasury, a role that was further expanded in
2011 to include the Investment Management Operations department. In this
role he is responsible for planning, developing, prioritizing and
leading five departments within Corporate Treasury. As assistant vice
president, Mr. Faso will support the treasurer and assistant treasurer
in representing Treasury in all capacities covering internal
initiatives, as well as external presentations and negotiations with
banks, broker dealers, vendors and financial institutions, in addition
to overseeing Investment Operations, Treasury Control Operations,
Treasury PMO, Travel & Expense Reimbursement, and Vendor Management
teams. Mr. Faso has a bachelor's degree in business/finance from Western
Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
Gordon Grant to assistant vice president, Financial and Capital
Markets, Aviation Capital Group Mr. Grant joined Pacific
Life in 2010 as director, Commercial Aviation Economic Analysis, for
Aviation Capital Group (ACG). He has been responsible for building out
the Economic Analysis function for ACG as well as capital market
transactions, investor relations, rating agency management, and pricing
validation. In 2014, he expanded his role in building out the analytics
function by developing modeling capabilities that are used in all facets
of the economic analysis. As assistant vice president, Financial and
Capital Markets, Mr. Grant will continue his responsibilities for
developing and overseeing ACG's economic analysis, pricing and capital
market-related functions. Mr. Grant has an honours degree majoring in
Financial Accounting from the University of South Africa and has held
the accreditation of Certified Treasury Professional since 2007. He
lives in Newport Beach.
Mark Karpe, JD, to assistant vice president, Counsel, Corporate
Division Mr. Karpe joined Pacific Life in 2004 as a
compliance consultant in the Corporate Division and was promoted to
director, Corporate Compliance, in 2005. In 2013, he transferred into an
attorney consultant role in the Office of the General Counsel. In this
role, Mr. Karpe was responsible for regulatory issues relating to
Pacific Selct Fund and Pacific Funds, including legal research, legal
opinions, board materials, and matters related to regulatory filings. As
assistant vice president, Counsel, Mr. Karpe will continue to have
direct responsibility and oversight for regulatory issues relating to
the Pacific Select Funds and Pacific Funds. He lives in Irvine and
received his Juris Doctor from the Hofstra University School of Law. Mr.
Karpe has a bachelor's in economics from Binghamton University in New
York. He is a member of the bars of California, New York and
Massachusetts.
William (Scott) Marshall to assistant vice president,
Portfolio Management, Corporate Division Mr. Marshall
joined Pacific Life in 2001 as a securities operations analyst and was
promoted several times before assuming the role of portfolio manager in
2007. In this role, Mr. Marshall is responsible for the daily management
of the new issue workflow from investment grade and emerging market
bonds and is also actively involved in the development and execution of
investment strategy. As assistant vice president, Portfolio Management,
Mr. Marshall will continue trading investment-grade, emerging-market and
high-yield bonds, as well as conducting portfolio analysis aligning
asset purchases with cash and duration needs. Mr. Marshall is a
resident of Oceanside and has a bachelor's degree from San Diego
State University in business administration/finance.
Mark McNeill, CFA, to assistant vice president, Investments,
Corporate Division Mr. McNeill joined Pacific Life in 2007
as an investment consultant with Pacific Life Fund Advisors (PLFA) and
was promoted to director, Investments, in 2010. In this role, Mr.
McNeill is responsible for leading the investment manager oversight
function for the Pacific Select Fund and Pacific Funds. His
responsibilities include generating key investment decisions for the
PLFA-managed strategies and providing investment expertise to drive
company-wide initiatives. As assistant vice president, Investments, Mr.
McNeill will continue to provide investment management expertise for the
Pacific Select Fund and Pacific Funds, as well as develop investment
strategies and fund manager recommendations for these portfolios. He is
a graduate of the University of California, Riverside, with a bachelor's
degree in business administration. Mr. McNeill lives in Rossmoor.
Kathleen Melgar to assistant vice president, Product Delivery,
Retirement Solutions Division Ms. Melgar started at Pacific
Life in 1980 serving in varying project management roles. After leaving
the company, she returned in 2011 as director of Institutional Products
and Mutual Funds Technology Services for the Retirement Solutions
Division. Ms. Melgar has responsibilities that include planning,
organizing, directing and overseeing the implementation of technology
solutions in support of the Retail Annuity, Mutual Fund, and
Institutional and Structured product areas of the Retirement Solutions
Division, most recently assuming the responsibility for Product
Delivery. As assistant vice president, Product Delivery, Ms. Melgar will
have direct responsibility and oversight of all aspects of analyzing and
delivering competitive business applications and related technology
services to the entire Retirement Solutions Division product suite. Ms.
Melgar lives in Costa Mesa.
Robert Salley, Ed.D., to assistant vice president, Organizational
Effectiveness, Corporate Division Dr. Salley joined Pacific
Life in 2008 as a talent & organizational development consultant and was
promoted to director of Organizational Effectiveness in 2011. Dr. Salley
provides organizational design and development expertise in assisting
leaders in defining their strategies and aligning their organizational
structures to these strategies. In his new role, Dr. Salley will
continue to provide expertise in organizational design and effectiveness
as well as further develop the Organizational Effectiveness curriculum,
standards, and tools used across the HR Business Partner function. Dr.
Salley is a resident of Chino. He received his Doctorate of Education in
organizational effectiveness from Pepperdine University, a master's of
business administration focusing on Human Resources Management from the
Florida Institute of Technology, and a bachelor's degree from the United
States Military Academy at West Point, NY.
Tarun Varma, CFA, to assistant vice president, Economic Capital
Management, Corporate Division Mr. Varma, a resident of
Huntington Beach, joined Pacific Life in 2008 as a senior market &
credit risk analyst in the Corporate Division's Enterprise Risk
Management department and was promoted in 2012 to director, Market &
Credit Risk. In this role, he leads the company-wide efforts in the
development and ongoing reporting for economic capital, including
economic capital determination, allocation, pricing, and model
development for Pacific Life and its divisions and subsidiaries. As
assistant vice president, Market & Credit Risk, Mr. Varma will continue
to lead the research, measurement, and management of economic capital to
promote its expanded use as an important management tool for
decision-making within the company. He has a master's degree in finance
from University of Maryland and a master's of business administration
from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. Mr.
Varma received his bachelor's degree in computer science from the
University of Delaware.
Nicholas Weber, FSA, CERA, to assistant vice president, Senior
Quantitative Strategist, Retirement Solutions Division Mr.
Weber joined Pacific Life in 2013 as an actuarial director in the
Retirement Solutions Division, and assumed leadership of the division's
asset and liability management (ALM) team in 2014. He is responsible for
the risk management and ALM of fixed annuities and institutional
products in the Retirement Solutions Division, assessing and managing
actuarial, financial and investment/capital market risks, and fixed
indexed products hedging for general account lines of business. As
assistant vice president, Senior Quantitative Strategist, Mr. Weber will
continue to lead risk management for the Retirement Solutions Division's
growing fixed products line in an expanded leadership role. Mr. Weber is
a graduate of the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in
actuarial science and applied mathematics and is currently a resident of
Newport Beach.
