Deutsche Telekom and Intel Security Unite to Remove the Mobile Password Pain Point

Mobile World Congress - Intel (News - Alert)® Security announced today that it has joined forces with Deutsche Telekom, in a new carrier deal, which will bring its award-winning password and identity management solution to the European market.

True Key by Intel Security simplifies the hassle of managing passwords and, later this year, Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert) customers will be among the first partners to enjoy this technology, which will allow them to access their digital lives in a simpler, faster and more secure way. The True Key application works on phones, tablets and computers to quickly log consumers into their apps and online accounts, without having to type or remember multiple passwords. By using multiple factors such as facial features, fingerprints or a trusted device, True Key allows users to positively identify themselves to their online services and apps.

"We know that using multiple factors including biometrics is a hot topic as a solution to the password problem in Europe but Intel Security's True Key application goes even further. It puts the user in control as they can customize the levels of their personal security across their devices. True Key offers a more secure solution so our customers can be reassured that only they have access to their True Key profile," says Marc Sommer, senior vice president, Group Business Development at Deutsche Telekom.

Today European mobile users have an average of 26 apps on their phones and over half access social networking sites on their mobiles every day1. Consumers struggle to remember the user names and passwords required to log into all their apps, especially when you consider that the average consumer has around 25 online accounts and 10 different passwords.

"With an increase in online attacks, consumers are looking for a solution that can offer protection of their digital lives, without compromiing control of their sensitive information," says Mark Hocking, VP and general manager of Safe Identity, Intel Security. "Together with Deutsche Telekom we will use an innovative solution to eliminate the pain point of passwords by offering users a simple and effective way to access their apps and devices. True Key gives consumers greater control over their digital identities."

Keeping information on mobile devices secure is crucial and with the True Key app, data is locally encrypted with AES-256, one the strongest grades of encryption available. The data never leaves the user's device unless encrypted first and restricts access to the user only, and those who the user authorizes with password sharing. Intel Security cannot access or share the data stored in the True Key app.

True Key is currently available through a limited release and will be generally available later in the year. You can request early access by joining the waitlist at www.TrueKey.com.
