Eyelit Inc. Releases Advanced Dispatching for its Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

Eyelit Inc., a manufacturing software provider for visibility, control, and coordination of manufacturing operations for the aerospace & defense, discrete electronics, semiconductor, life sciences, medical device, and photovoltaic (solar) industries, announced today the general release of its new Eyelit Advanced Dispatching™ module.

Eyelit's dynamic dispatching module extends the capabilities of Eyelit MES™ with configurable sequencing rules, filters, conditions, and display of rendering schemes to prioritize material processing at each step of a manufacturing process. The real-time conditions are evaluated for each work order, lot and batch when an operator or automation requests the system to advise which material should be processed next at a specific unit of equipment or workstation.

The sequencing factors can incorporate many configurable criteria for a location or equipment ID in order to aid decisions that are otherwise difficult to make. Recommendations for sequencing are available to people, equipment controllers, material control systems (MCS), automated material-handling systems (AMHS), and automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS). Relative priorities are evaluated based on multiple criteria, such as meeting due dates, critical ratio, changing customer priorities, and equipment utilization.

Prioritization rules utilize filtering decisions for particular work orders, lots and batches by ensuring that specific attributes and parameters are compatible with equipment setups, recipes, and capabilities to enforce quality. The sequencing also indicates which material is forecasted to arrive, or should be batched or processed in series, and when changeovers are recommended to optimize equipment utilization and operator productivity. Algorithms also take into account time constraints based on the minimum andmaximum process timers between steps that monitor time-critical processing to comply with specifications.

The system can be configured to feed data forward through variables so that downstream steps can use the data to preselect different tool/recipe combinations for material, based on prior processing results. At any given time, the dispatcher evaluates tradeoffs to determine the overall relative priorities, which are constantly changing in dynamic manufacturing environments. The dispatcher utilizes the manufacturer's specific combination of criteria for best practices to recommend the best choices to achieve overall business goals.

"Manufacturers of precision electronics must deal with many competing factors that impact quality, delivery schedules, cycle times, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and research and development activities," stated Dan Estrada, Eyelit's Vice-President of Sales and Marketing. "Domain experts can automate their knowledge of best practices by using Eyelit Advanced Dispatching™ so that operators and automation can leverage good decisions that may not be easy or intuitive. Our innovative solutions utilize a shared, event-driven architecture and database schema for MES, asset management, quality management, dispatching, and factory automation applications. This enables the dispatcher to access all events and data instantly without any data extraction, transformation, or custom integration, which third-party solutions typically require."
