The Writers Studio, Presented by the Writers' Program at UCLA Extension, Returns Feb. 5-8 to Offer Aspiring Writers the Tools to Make Major Strides in Their Writing

A year ago, Victoria Denault was sitting in Francesca Lia Block's Writing the Young Adult Novel workshop at the 2014 Writers Studio, sponsored by the Writers' Program at UCLA Extension. Now she has an agent and a three-book deal with Hachette/Forever Yours. Her debut novel, One More Shot, will be out in June.

"I'd been working on a novel for a couple of years and I'd lost my motivation and confidence in the story. I needed something to keep my dream going and the Writers Studio seemed like a good fit. It turned out to be exactly what I needed," said Denault. "I gained confidence in my writing and learned essentials about the publishing process from both the instructor and the guest speaker. If it wasn't for the focus, motivation and confidence I gained, I would not have come as far as I have."

The 2015 Writers Studio convenes on Feb. 5-8 at 1010 Westwood Center in Los Angeles. Participants choose one of 10 writing workshops based on their writing goals, including fiction and creative nonfiction, as well as writing for television and film. Attendees spend four days of intensive instruction and writing working closely with some of the most accomplished screenwriters and creative writing professionals in Southern California in Studio courses limited to 15 participants.

This year, sessions are led by fiction writers Reyna Grande, Colette Sartor and Steven Wolfson; nonfiction writers Amy Friedman and Jennie Nash; and film and TV writers Michael Weiss, Ricky Manning, Corey Mandell and Nancy Nigrosh.

The workshops are:
