Veteran Tickets Foundation Leverages ID.me's Technology to Provide Free Tickets to Members of the Military

Digital identity verification provider ID.me today announced a partnership with Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix), a national nonprofit that provides free event tickets to members of the military, veterans and their families and the families of those killed in action. Utilizing ID.me's award-winning identity verification technology, Vet Tix will be able to increase its volume of verification to the military community without risk of fraud.

Founded in 2008, Vet Tix partners with major sports teams, leagues, colleges, promoters, organizations, individuals and ticket holders to provide donated tickets to sporting events, concerts, performing arts and family activities to military members and veterans, with the goal of improving mental welfare and enriching the lives of military service members. Vet Tix has grown tremendously since its start, having now donated more than one million tickets to the military community and their families.

Vet Tix gives away hundreds of free tickets each week and has to verify the identity of each person receiving tickets to ensure they are only going to legitimate members of the military community, a process that was previously both time consuming and expensive. With college football bowl season currently underway, this is a particularly busy time for the organization. By leveraging ID.me's technology, Vet Tix has been able to confidently offload a significant portion of their verification burden - significantly reducing the time Vet Tix has to spend verifying identities.

"Vet Tix has an extraordinary value proposition -- offering free tickets to Major League sports, NASCAR, and a variety of other events to the military community and their families," said ID.me CEO and co-founder, Blake Hall. "Unfortunately, there are ineligible people who would take advantage of the Vet Tix program, so VetTix requires a verification solution in order to be confident they are only giving tickets to legitimate members of the military community. With Troop ID, ID.me's military verification solution, Vet Tix can quickly and easily verify the identify of U.S. servicemen and women to ensure only the appropriate party is receiving free tickets."

ID.me's technology empowers service members, veterans, and their families to quickly verify their military affiliation against an authoritative database. That response is then relayed to Vet Tix. Additionally, now that ID.me's Troop ID credentials are accepted at VA websites via www.Connect.Gov, veterans may use Troop ID to login to government websites in addition to claiming free tickets at Vet Tix or exclusive military discounts at over 130 leading retailers. Household name brands like Under Armour, Overstock.com, Dell (News - Alert), and Hershey's use Troop ID to verify their online military discount programs; veterans may use the same e-mail and password they link to their Troop ID login in order to unlock military discounts without creating a new login.

"Veteran Tickets Foundation was manually verifying around 1,000 troops and veterans per week in our system, a task that was both tedious and time consuming. We needed a solid, trustworthy solution so that we could focus more on our core mission of obtaining and distributing event tickets to our military and veteran families - and ID.me's solution allows us to do so," said Butch Hogan, CTO and founder, Veteran Tickets Foundation. "We researched numerous popular solutions and found that ID.me stood above the rest when it came to their verification process, and when we discovered that their two founders were also Veterans, it was an added bonus for us and we knew the partnership was the perfect fit."

Founded by two Army Rangers, ID.me is a digital identity network that enables brands to securely offer exclusive promotions to specific communities by verifying the consumer's group affiliation. Previously, retailers had no efficient way to offer special discounts online for different groups because digital ID cards are neither widely adopted nor universally trusted.

To sign up for free tickets, members of the military and veterans can verify their military affiliation by selecting ID.me during the registration process on the Vet Tix website.
