NetJapan Releases ActiveImage Protector 4.5 Linux Edition

NetJapan, Inc., publisher of backup, recovery, and virtualization solutions, announces the release of ActiveImage Protector 4.5 Linux Edition. New features support local and off-site replication for increased security of backup images and full support for the latest versions of Red Hat (News - Alert) Enterprise Linux 7.x and CentOS 7.

ActiveImage Protector Linux Edition is a sector-based disk image backup and disaster recovery solution. New features such as Smart Sector backup of XFS data volumes, incremental backup with remote consolidation, an improved graphical user interface and Inline Data Deduplication Compression, streamline the backup process saving you time and making more efficient use of storage space.

New Features Summary

• Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and CentOS 7, including XFS file systems and the systemd system and service manager for Linux.
• On and off-site replication of backup image files to local folders, network shared folders (CIFS), WebDAV (HTTP/HTTPS), FTP, SFTP, and Amazon S3 (requires AWSCLI).
• Smart Sector feature supports backup of XFS data volumes.
• Smart Sector backup of XFS volumes.
• Post-backup task options including automatic shutdown or system restart.
• Enhanced built-in proprietary snapshot driver for reliable and secure creation of backups.
• Consolidation of incremental backup image files from a remote host maximizes storage requirements for efficient file management.
• Linux based Boot Environment (AIPBE) featuring an intuitive and easy to use GUI that allows quick access to ActiveImage Protector's restore and recovery tools.

• Hot and cold imaging of Linux environments.
• Inline Data Deduplication Compression feature improves backup storage utilization.
• Scheduled Incremental backups.
• Proprietary native Linux snapshot driver.
• Support for hot backup of live MySQL databases and Cybozu Garoon 3.
• Pre-Boot AIPBE (Linux) support for uEFI native mode.
• ActiveImage Protector Boot Environment (AIPBE) builder is included.
• Image Mount feature allows granular or bulk file extraction from an image file.
• ActiveImage Console offers remote management capabilities for both Linux and Windows, including backup of a Linux environment from a Windows machine.
