inXus Interactive Launches VERVE 2, a Next-Generation Interactive Tech Toy That Controls Computers and the Internet with Everyday Objects

IRVINE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

inXus Interactive (#inxusinteractive) today announced that VERVE 2 (#verve2), its groundbreaking, easy-to-use interactive tech toy (#techtoy) for creating fun projects and experiences, has been successfully funded on Kickstarter and is now available for consumers looking for a fun, interactive holiday gift idea. The perfect tool for makers, do-it-yourselfers, gamers, students and tinkerers, VERVE 2 allows users to control their computer and the Internet with everyday objects and is THE perfect device for helping consumers who are passionate about bringing their innovative ideas to life. VERVE 2 is available for purchase at www.myinXus.com starting at $119.00 USD.

Unlike other interactive technology toys, VERVE 2 requires no programming or electronics knowledge to set up and gives users the ability to control a computer or the Internet with eight different sensors, including force, touch, pushbutton, light, turn, motion, magnet and sound, to do things such as play favorite games or applications, easily send texts and emails, or connect directly to websites. Ways to use VERVE 2 could include: turning bananas, apples or any other fruit into a musical instrument; making a gigntic video game controller that you step on to play; playing Angry Birds with an actual slingshot; playing Guitar Hero with a 2x4 or tennis racquet; and making a burglar alarm that sends the user a text when their parents enter their room. If you can imagine it, you can make it!

The standard VERVE 2 kit comes with everything needed to get started making fun projects. On top of the eight plug-and-play sensors, users get all needed connection cables, a flash drive with software and two game applications (a. SpaceFighter, which pays homage to Tie Fighter, one of the first games ever released on Apple (News - Alert) computers, and b. SensorJam, an app that lets users play different sound effects using sensors. NOTE: more game apps will be available in the coming weeks at www.myinXus.com), a quick start guide and a detailed user's guide.

VERVE2 as an Educational Toy

VERVE 2 is a fun, engaging educational toy that brings the world of science and technology to budding creators of all ages to learn, do and demonstrate in new and highly innovative ways (i.e.: jumping, swinging, slapping and even touching hands). VERVE 2 dramatically lowers the barrier to entry for learning about physical computing systems and provides an exciting medium to 'learn by doing.' The applications with VERVE 2 are limitless for creative minds, and with VERVE 2, people can come up with all kinds of educational and entertaining ways to use the included sensors to play their games, demonstrate their project, solve problems, teach, learn, etc.

"VERVE 2 is about enabling people to interact with computers and the internet in a whole new way -- it's an idea whose time has finally come," said Mark Bachman, president and co-founder, inXus Interactive, and professor at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Irvine. "We want a whole new generation to invent awesome technologies for fun and problem solving, and to design their own creative projects with VERVE 2."
