Brazil's Largest Cloud Services Provider, UOL, Selects Embrane as the Platform to Deliver Virtualized Load Balancers and Firewalls to Enterprise Customers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Embrane®, the leader in delivering application-centric network services, today announced that UOL, one of the largest cloud service providers in Brazil, is the latest service provider to differentiate its business by providing dedicated virtual network services running on the Embrane heleos platform. By integrating Embrane load balancers and firewalls into its Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) portfolio, UOL will enable mid-size and large enterprises to order new differentiated, network infrastructure on-demand.

After an extensive review of competitive offerings, UOL selected Embrane for its unique ability to offer lifecycle management of Embrane's firewall and load balancer, as well as third-party network services, all from a single orchestration tool.

"In a highly competitive industry and market, it is critical that we find the right solution to deliver enterprise-class network services to our customers in an automated and agile way," said Eduardo Maldonado, chief technology officer of UOL. "With Embrane we are able to offer multiple tiers of services, differentiate UOL from competitors, such as Amazon Web Services (News - Alert), and reduce our capital costs in the process."

UOL, which has more than 3,000 corporate customers in Brazil, is building an application centric infrastructure (ACI), leveraging the Cisco (News - Alert) ACI architecture and the ACI ecosystem of partners. The first step in building that architecture is integrating the Embrane platform for application-centric firewalls, load balancers and lifecycle management of any virtual network service.

"UOL is a great example of a service provider that understands the needs of its enterprise customers and is committed to offering new, differentiated services that deliver the network as a cloud," added Dante Malagrinò, co-founder and chief product officer at Embrane. "The Embrane heleos platform is an ideal solution for service providers, like UOL, because it's purpose-built for large scale, multi-tenant environments, particularly private/hybrid/public cloud deployments."

As the UOL business continues to grow, the company has the option to offer additional services from Embrane's ecosystem of partners on the same Embrane platform. Those partners include A10 Networks (News - Alert), Cisco, Citrix and Sourcefire.
