TiE to Receive VC Taskforce 2014 Innovation Catalyst Award


(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PALO ALTO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/02/14 -- VC Taskforce™, an organization committed to enhancing collaboration in the venture community, announced that TiE, The Indus Entrepreneurs, will receive its 2014 Innovation Catalyst Award (ICA). The ICA award recognizes venture community leaders for being catalysts of innovation and entrepreneurship. Also being honored this year is Vinod Dham, father of the Pentium Chip, who will receive a lifetime award for contributions to the VC ecosystem. VC Taskforce will present the awards at the 6th Annual ICA Gala to be held November 13, 2014 at the Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club.



VC Taskforce also announced that SVB Financial Group will be the hospitality sponsor for the third year in a row. SVB Financial is the parent company of Silicon Valley Bank.

This year's honoree, TiE, was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley and today is one of the largest global networks of entrepreneurs and professionals with more than 57 chapters in 14 countries. Accepting the award on behalf of TiE, is TiE Silicon Valley President Venk Shukla. A long term charter member of TiE Silicon Valley, he pioneered the formation of TiE Angels to provide an organized platform for angels to invest in promising start ups among other contributions.


Lifetime accomplishments award honoree Vinod Dham, founder and managing partner at IndoUS Ventures, is a renowned entrepreneur, an originator and a venture capitalist. His work in semiconductors and chip designing (he helped create Intel's first flash memory chip) created a revolution in information technology. His contributions in developing the breakaway Pentium chip that debuted in 1993 earned him the tag of 'Father of the Pentium Chip.' He is a mentor, advisor and investor, and sits on the boards of many companies including promising startups funded through his fund -- IndoUS Venture Partners.

Hospitality sponsor SVB Financial Group, the parent company of Silicon Valley Bank, is a long term partner to the most innovative companies in the world as well as the premium wine industry. As part of its sponsorship, SVB's Wine Division will be offering a selection of fine wines from several of its clients.

Music for this year's gala is being provided by the Magnolia Jazz Band. The band has performed at the last three ICA galas.

Early bird pricing (until Oct. 31) for the gala is $250 per person or $450 for two tickets and includes fine wines, exquisite hors d'oeuvres and dinner. Sponsorships are available at $25,000 (Chairman), $15,000 (Executive), $10,000 (Director), and from $7,500 to $4,000 (Tables).
