UReason releases WAM AlarmHarvester for Wonderware System Platform

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WAM AlarmHarvester enables Wonderware System Platform users to be compliant with alarm management standards and guidelines.

Orlando, Florida - UReason International B.V., the provider of real-time reasoning technology, is proud to announce the release of WAM AlarmHarvester for Wonderware System Platform users as part of its WAM (Web-enabled Alarm Management) product portfolio.

"The WAM AlarmHarvester for Wonderware System Platform is a first step in a programme that UReason is undertaking to enable users and system integrators of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) applications to become compliant with the standards and guidelines that make their way from highly regulated industries to other industries and domains," says Lieven Dubois, Director Business Development, UReason.

An alarm configuration database is an indispensable element for compliance with alarm management as prescribed in numerous regulations such as ISA S18.2, IEC 62682 and D.O.T. 49CFR195. UReason's new product enables Wonderware System Platform users to read (harvest) the alarm configuration from the Wonderware System Platform (specifically, the Galaxy Repository) and store it - time-stamped - in a database. After a given time of operation, the customer's alarm administrator can upload the alarm configuration from a running and deployed application into the engineering environment and rerun the read operation, the 'Alarm Harvesting', so that configuration changes can be stored and reported.

"UReason will release more expert type modules to really assist users in properly documenting the alarm system contained in their SCADA system," says Lieven Dubois. "This documentation can be re-used by AlarmExpert to create rules that will help operators during abnormal situations: for example, to determine the root cause of the abnormal situation, estimate consequences of an alarmed event, and propose an appropriate resolution to the situation." Fewer alarms and more awareness UReason's AlarmExpert technology helps customers reduce the number of alarms - and thus the operator's workload - and increase awareness during abnormal situations. The company's product-line - marketed as WAM(TM) - includes: WAM Reporting, an alarm reporting and analysis module; WAM AlarmGateway, an interface to the alarm bus of Wonderware System Platform; and the WAM AlarmExpert engineering and deployment modules.

WAM AlarmHarvester is now being added to this product line, whose value is to enhance and extend the functionality of the alarm system in order to reduce down-time and improve safety.
