Dell SecureWorks' Managed Security Services Wins Midsize Enterprise Summit West 2014 XCellence Award

ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--

Dell (News - Alert) SecureWorks, an industry leader in information security services, has won the Midsize Enterprise Summit (MES) West 2014 XCellence Award for its Managed Security Services. Additionally, Dell SecureWorks was voted by the Summit's 250 attending CIOs as "Best in Show," having the top expertise, marketing message and overall presence of any of the technology companies represented at the Summit. Dell SecureWorks' Managed Security Services also received the 2014 XCellence Award from the Midsize Enterprise Summit East earlier this year, as well as their "Best of Show" award.

Hosted by XChange Events, the MES XCellence Awards measure IT executive attendee perceptions of vendors' products, services, and presentations during the event. By winning the prestigious XCellence Awards, Dell SecureWorks continues to demonstrate its commitment to understanding the unique security needs of the midsize enterprise IT market.

"Small and midsize organizations often possess valuable intellectual property and customer data, and they conduct online financial activities that attract attackers," said Jeff Multz, director of Midmarket North America, Dell SecureWorks. "The networks of these organizations may also connect to large companies they serve, so attackers go after these smaller organizations to gain a foothold into larger ones. This is why it is critical for this market sector to make information security a top business priority."

In addition to the core security services, which are the foundation of a robust security program that consists of Managed Intrusion (News - Alert) Prevention and Detection, Log Management, Firewall Management and Vulnerability Management, there are several new security services that have made great strides in helping small and midsize organizations protect their valuable assets. They include Dell SecureWorks' Advanced Endpoint Threat Detection (AETD) service, Managed Security Awareness Training and Managed Phishing. The AETD service continuously scans endpoint devices (laptops, desktops and servers) for signs of threat activity and provides recommendations for remediation. The Managed Security Awareness Training and Managed Phishing services are programs which are designed to heighten employees' awareness about phishing attacks and other cyber security risks. Employees are constantly tested and are given learning reinforcement exercises. These programs are proven to significantly reduce the risk of employees being socially engineered by cyber criminals, thus reducing the employees' potential risk to the organization.

The awards were presented at the Midsize Enterprise Summit West, held Sept. 14-16 in Dallas, Texas. The event connected more than 200 CIOs and IT leaders with technology vendors and solution providers to build long-term partnerships that will support and advance IT in the midmarket.

"The annual MES XCellence Awards are the midmarket IT community's vote of confidence in the winners' products, solutions and services," said Lisa MacKenzie, Senior Vice President of XChange Events. "The winners of these awards are those that midmarket CIOs and other key IT decisions makers believe best understand their unique challenges and provide business-driven solutions that meet those needs. We congratulate Dell SecureWorks and all the award winners from this year's MES West conference."
