Cellcom Invites Schools in Brown County to compete for $50,000 in School Technology

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 30 September 2014 Release date- 29092014 - Cellcom, in partnership with its sister company Nsight Telservices, is giving public and private high schools in Brown County a chance to win one of three cash prizes totaling $50,000 to be used for classroom technology.

Project Innovate, a community voting challenge, invites students, teachers, families and community members to vote and rally support for their favorite school. The voting period will run from October 20 through November 20.

The school with the most votes at the end of the voting period will be awarded a $30,000 grand prize exclusively for the purchase of technology. The first prize winner will receive $15,000 and the second prize winner will receive $5,000.

'We work hard to find ways to give back to education locally,' said Brighid Riordan, director of Public Affairs for Cellcom and Nsight Telservices. 'Equipping a school with the latest technology is high on the wish list of many educators and students, but budget concerns can make these items less attainable. Project Innovate aims to bridge the gap and give schools the opportunity to meet their technological needs and enhance education overall.' Invited schools include: Ashwaubenon, Denmark, Pulaski, De Pere, Bay Port, West De Pere, Green Bay East, Green Bay West, Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest, Notre Dame Academy and NEW Lutheran.

'This is the fifth year we've held Project Innovate and we are excited to bring it to Brown County. The students and teachers are always creative and put a lot in to the challenge,' said Riordan. 'The key to success in Project Innovate is to tell as many people as can to vote for your school. The schools that mobilize early and think outside the box have had the most success.' Cellcom and Nsight Telservices believe that providing technology to teachers and students will inspire innovation, enhance learning and increase academic achievement. Examples of technology that could be purchased with the funds include interactive white boards, lap tops or tablets, software and apps, Wi-Fi network equipment, connected science lab instruments or digital media tools.

Schools are asked to confirm their participation by October 15 and can then begin rallying support for voting, which begins on October 20. Anyone age 13 and up is eligible to vote, regardless of location. Each individual can vote one time. Cellcom will notify winners on December 1.
