FusionSphere 5.0 Open Cloud Operating System Makes its Debut at Huawei Cloud Congress 2014

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 26 September 2014 Release date- 25092014 - Shanghai, China - Huawei launched FusionSphere 5.0, its latest cloud operating system at Huawei Cloud Congress (HCC) 2014.

The system is an open, agile, and high-performance cloud operating system that supports server virtualization for enterprises and telecom operators and enables them to offer private, public, and hybrid cloud services. It has been recognized by industry organizations including the China Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI) in July 2014. Gartner also included the system as the only new 'up-and-coming product in emerging markets' in its 2014 x86 Server Virtualization Infrastructure Magic Quadrant.

'Collaboration within the IT ecosystem is vital to drive success in cloud computing. We have been working with industry partners to apply FusionSphere 5.0 for cloud solutions that address the specific needs of vertical industries through traditional and new applications,' said Mr. Ren Zhipeng, President of the IT Cloud Computing Product Line. 'The operating system will enable enterprises to use a single platform to build an open, converged, and technologically independent cloud to support public, private, and hybrid clouds. It will support multiple data centers, leverage heterogeneous resource pools from various vendors, provide enterprises with key applications, and support the network functions virtualization (NFV) applications of telecom operators. This high performance, highly efficient and low latency cloud operating system will contribute to our customers' business growth and success.' Mr. Ren Zhipeng, President of Huawei's IT Cloud Computing Product Line launched the FusionSphere 5.0 Open Cloud Operating System at HCC 2014 in Shanghai.

Open and Compatible Architecture Compared with Huawei's FusionSphere 3.1 platform, FusionSphere 5.0 has a fully integrated OpenStack architecture and provides a software-defined data center that is more sophisticated and powerful, software-defined storage, software-defined networking and automated management capabilities. FusionSphere 5.0 also supports cloud-based telecom services such as NFV. The integration of the standardized OpenStack architecture and application programming interfaces (APIs) enables the seamless migration of applications developed based on OpenStack to FusionSphere. With this feature, enterprises can easily transition from other cloud platform vendors.

Secure and Reliable Services With the FusionSphere 5.0 platform's high fault tolerance, reliable, and active-active data center architecture, FusionSphere-based IT services can be easily backed up for disaster recovery. Enterprises can reduce disaster recovery costs as such capabilities will no longer be required to be built in when developing IT applications. In addition, the storage virtualization function of the FusionSphere 5.0 platform guarantees high service data security, effective prevention from unauthorized data access, and delivers 99.999% reliability.

Cloud-based Services for Customers Basic enterprise IT architecture is transforming from server virtualization to data center virtualization and cloud-based applications. Featuring an open architecture, high performance, and low latency, FusionSphere 5.0 provides enterprises with agile IT.

To date, Huawei's FusionSphere platform has been deployed in 42 countries and regions around the world covering industries including public services, telecommunications, energy, finance, transportation, healthcare, education, media, and manufacturing.
