InDesign, Meet DAM: Silicon One for EnterMedia Offers Sophisticated Web-to-Print Editing in the Cloud

CINCINNATI --(Business Wire)--

Today Silicon Publishing Inc., the leading provider of online editing solutions for Adobe (News - Alert) InDesign Server, announced a major new release of their Silicon One product, now optimized for EnterMedia Software's solutions.

Today's release of Silicon One for EnterMedia includes Silicon Connector, a powerful InDesign plug-in that eliminates the traditional steps of downloading assets, re-packaging and uploading, by simply linking InDesign directly to EnterMedia-based assets. This is made possible by Connector's revolutionary use of an HTTP-based linking architecture, a proven technology now in widespread use among other industry-leading DAMs. Currently shipping for MediaBeacon, Widen, Box (News - Alert) and AEM (Adobe Experience Manager), more Connector releases are expected later this year.

Silicon One lets you set up templates in Adobe InDesign, dragging and dropping assets from the EnterMedia UI into InDesign. Completed templates are then uploaded to a web serve: the assets are referenced as links and accessed directly in the EnterMedia DAM. The web runtime gives users an easy, form-based way to update the content of the templates, producing high-quality print and image output using InDesign Server.

In today's announcement, Silicon One is described as being built upon the company's flagship Silicon Designer product, widely recognized as the premier platform for online editing in high-quality print and mobile. Silicon One is intended to offer many of Designer's core technologies to new markets, but at a lower price point. Silicon Designer has long been known for its highly customizable support of the broadest range of editing experiences, from templated to free-form documents with drag-and-drop dynamic text and graphics. Designer also excels at managing the round trip for InDesign documents between browser and server rendition, outputting print-ready PDF output that is powerfully reflective of the online session, technologies that Silicon One is expected to capitalize upon in its easy-editing online model.

In addition to today's announcement of Silicon One for EnterMedia, the company anticipates bringing Silicon One to an ever-expanding range of DAMs and advises the market to look for future product releases in the near term.
