Nikon Announces D750 -- First DSLR to Feature Wi-Fi(R) -- in Time for Photokina

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 09/12/14 -- Adorama (http://www.adorama.com), one of the world's largest photography, video, imaging and electronics retailers, now has available Nikon's newest DSLR camera, the D750, that is being announced just ahead of the Photokina expo. Photographers can pre-order the D750 online at http://www.adorama.com/results/nikon_announcement_9_12_14, where it retails for USD 2296.95 for body only, or with the AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR Lens for USD 3596.95. Also announced with the D750 was Nikon's SB-500 AF Speedlight, listed at USD 246.95, and the NIKKOR 20MM F/1.8G ED lens, which is USD 796.95.

Nikon D750The D750 is Nikon's first full-frame DSLR to feature a tilting Vari-angle display and built-in Wi-Fi® connectivity. With pro-caliber video features inspired by the D810, the same autofocus and metering systems used in the D4S and D810, and a newly designed 24.3MP FX-format CMOS image sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor, the D750 delivers a feature set unlike any DSLR its size. The D750 is remarkably slim, compact and lightweight, and has a control layout based on Nikon's flagship cameras that offers comfortable, intuitive handling.

A first for a Nikon full-frame D-SLR, the D750 features a 3.2-inch 1,229 dot tilting Vari-angle LCD display. It has RGBW alignment and color balance customization, so it can be matched to an external monitor. Use it to shoot from high and low angles, to spot-select white balance during Live View shooting, to access the intuitively redesigned Info. display, or to change settings quickly from the separate Photo Shooting and Movie Shooting menus.

The D750 uses the same autofocus and metering technology as the D4S and the D810 -- Nikon's powerful 51-point AF system with 15 cross-type sensors and 3D Color Matrix Metering III with a 91,000-pixel RGB sensor. It's fast and responsive, shooting 6.5 FPS at full resolution. And it's versatile enough to shoot stills in multiple formats, video with enhanced definition, smooth time-lapse sequences up to 9,999 shots in-camera and more. Open new compositional possibilities with its 3.2-inch 1,229k dot tilting Vari-angle LCD display, or use a compatible smartphone or tablet as a remote monitor for Live View shooting.

The D750 uses a newly designed 24.3MP FX-format CMOS image sensor paired with EXPEED 4 image processing for fast frame rates, wide ISO range of 100 to 12,800 (expandable up to ISO 51,200), Full HD video with enhanced definition and reduced noise at high ISO sensitivities, and a Nikon first -- autofocus performance down to -3EV.

With professional video capabilities inspired by the D810 and an array of inputs and outputs, the D750 is well suited for videography. It can simultaneously record uncompressed and compressed Full HD 1080 footage at 60/50/30/25/24p. Photographers can manually control ISO, shutter speed and aperture while recording -- even use Power Aperture control for smooth iris transitions and Auto ISO for smooth exposure transitions. Highlight Display with zebra stripes can confirm exposure and Flat Picture Control assists with easier color grading in post.

AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED LensThe AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED is a compact, lightweight FX-format lens that combines the ultra-wide perspective of a 20mm focal length, the low-light capabilities and shallow depth of field of an f/1.8 maximum aperture and the superb optical characteristics of an advanced NIKKOR prime lens. Whether you shoot stills, HD video, time lapse sequences or star trail images on an FX- or DX-format D-SLR, the AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED will widen your creative potential. It has a 7.8-inch close focus capability for working in tight spaces, or from a distance, get wide, expansive vistas into the frame.

The AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED is designed to draw peak performance from high-resolution Nikon DSLRs in both still and HD video applications. Aspherical (AS) lens elements and Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements with Nano Crystal Coat (N) combat sagittal flare and chromatic aberration for superb, sharp rendering across the entire frame. Nikon's innovative Silent Wave Motor (SWM) uses ultrasonic waves for fast, accurate near quiet autofocusing as close as 7.8-inches (0.2 meters) from your subject.

Nikon SB-500 SpeedlightA first for Nikon Speedlights, the SB-500 AF Speedlight is a compact, lightweight i-TTL Speedlight and LED video light. The SB-500 AF Speedlight has simple controls -- just a few buttons -- and it operates on two AA batteries. It offers wide coverage with a guide number of 24/78.7 (ISO 100, m/ft), with 24mm coverage in FX-format and 16mm coverage in DX-format. The head rotates 180 degrees left and right and tilts 90 degrees upward allowing you to bounce light off nearby surfaces to soften the light and shadows.

The SB-500 AF Speedlight is also a versatile video light especially well suited for recording interviews up close. It has a built-in high-intensity LED light (approx. 100 lux) that provides steady, uniform daylight-balanced illumination. It can be used at three output levels -- quarter, half or full power -- making it practical for low-light video shooting and close up still photography. And when used with the D810 or D750, the SB-500 AF Speedlight communicates LED color information (along with that of the flash) to the camera for optimal white balance.
