Openet virtualizes its entire BSS infrastructure; Virtualized BSS dramatically improves time-to-market for innovative new services while delivering significant cost savings

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DUBLIN, Ireland - - Openet, a global leader of real-time transaction management software and services, today announced that it has virtualized its real-time charging system. This builds on the existing virtualization of Openet's policy and mediation systems, its secure API gateway technology and its Fusionworks platform. By virtualizing its full BSS capability, Openet can offer a highly agile and flexible system capable of testing, developing, launching and amending new services and business models much more quickly. This will accelerate the availability of innovative new use cases and applications enabling operators to generate faster ROI for their network technology investments.

By fully virtualizing its BSS infrastructure, Openet will enable mobile operators to more rapidly monetise new capabilities including VoLTE QoS management, shared data plans and sponsored data in a matter of weeks (rather than months or in some cases years with traditional legacy systems). By removing the need to create a full hardware-based environment, Openet has simplified the deployment process, enabling operators to focus on creating new revenue streams without having to deal with issues around integration, deployment and infrastructure management. The modular architecture of Openet's systems along with BSS virtualization will enable operators to reduce costs and effectively transition from legacy proprietary technology and embrace open standards.

"Operators have to transform the way that they do business and this change is being driven by the need to innovate." said Joe Hogan, CTO at Openet. "BSS virtualization is a key enabler for innovation and will provide operators with the agility and flexibility to quickly capitalise on new revenue generating opportunities." Hogan continues: "While adopting NFV is crucial, deploying the technology in isolation is not enough. Operators must work with BSS specialists that have experience of deploying innovative solutions that fully realize the many advantages of this revolutionary network architecture." In 2012 Openet deployed the world's first large scale, commercially available virtualized policy system which has been optimized for a leading tier one operator with more than 100 million subscribers. Openet therefore has proven domain expertise, scaling capabilities and software that is demonstrably effective in a virtualized environment.
