Samsung Delivers New Possibilities in Guest Entertainment Through Alliances with Leading System Integrators

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. --(Business Wire)--

Samsung Electronics America is partnering with a number of leading providers of broadband and interactive solutions to bring hoteliers a wide selection of equipment and guests with premium content. Working with industry-leading integrators allows Samsung (News - Alert) to offer hotels and cruise lines a variety of LED TVs with outstanding picture quality and content. Samsung recently showcased these industry alliances along with its latest lineup of products for the hospitality market at HITEC 2014, the world's largest hospitality technology show.

"Aligning with industry-leading integrators enables Samsung to tailor our hospitality offerings to address and eliminate many of the common pain points faced by the industry so that hoteliers can deliver a premium entertainment experience for their guests," said Jonas Tanenbaum, vice president of hospitality at Samsung Electronics America. "With the help of our partners' expertise, we are able to offer hotels a variety of premium LED TVs with outstanding picture quality and content, while also maintaining operating costs and preserving aesthetic quality."

H-Browser for a Premium Guest Experience

Samsung's proprietary H-Browser platform is a true Smart TV solution that provides guests with a premium interactive experience and features both free and video on demand (VOD) content. Built on the HTML5 standard with Flash support, it is made available for hoteliers through strategic alliances that include Allin Interactive, SONIFI Solutions, Guest-Tek and Quadriga Worldwide, Ltd. Enabling premium properties to achieve the next level of interactivity, Samsung H-Browser eliminates the need for a costly VOD set-top box. In addition, the slim, sleek design is not obstructed by external hardware, allowing for beautiful and space saving room designs.

LYNK™ DRM for Secure, Cost Effective Content Management

Samsung LYNK DRM provides hoteliers, facility managers and owners with a robust, secure and cost effective alternative to traditional entirely hardware-based content protection systems. By eliminating the need for legacy chipbased solutions at the head end, as well as in the TV or set-top box, Samsung LYNK saves facilities cost and labor, while also increasing system integrity. It also eliminates the need for DRM hardware provisioning and licensing, reducing significant expenses for the hoteliers and enabling properties to produce more content with a smaller footprint.

Samsung has partnered with a number of head end technology vendors, allowing hoteliers to choose from a variety of commercially available equipment, including:

  • DISH Network, which has integrated LYNK DRM into smartbox™.
  • Pico Digital, which has integrated LYNK DRM into its IPQ-LYNK head end solution;
  • Technicolor (News - Alert), which has partnered with Samsung to integrate LYNK DRM into its COM2000 head end solution; and
  • VideoPropulsion, through integration of LYNK DRM into its FloodGate solution.

"Integrating Samsung LYNK DRM into smartbox™ eliminates the need for DRM hardware provisioning and licensing, reducing significant expenses for hoteliers, said Alistair Chatwin, Director, Product Management at DISH Network.
