MarketersMedia.com: Universal Devices announces ISY-DR, a sub $100 OEM Platform for Demand Response

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Building on the popular ISY994 platform, the ISY-DR is a low-cost, highly embeddable solution for manufacturers who provide energy management solutions to quickly and efficiently implement Demand Response in their products.

Encino, USA - Universal Devices, an industry leader in energy management and automation devices, announced an industry first today - a fully compliant, sub $100 OEM platform for Demand Response.

Building on the popular ISY994 platform, the ISY-DR is a low-cost, highly embeddable solution for manufacturers who provide energy management solutions to quickly and efficiently implement Demand Response in their products.

The ISY-DR supports the full feature-set of all versions of the popular OpenADR 2.0 and with the addition of a ZigBee daughter card, Smart Energy Profile 1.1. Manufacturers and OEM's can quickly implement a certified solution without the typical long lead time and costs associated with product development and certification. Legacy energy management systems can be easily be incorporated with ISY-DR to keep pace with today's demand response energy ecosystem.

Manufacturers can integrate their legacy or new products via an assortment of optional add-on modules such as network Web Services, XML, JSON, relays, serial communications, cellular modems, ZigBee, or Z-Wave protocols. Further communication is effortlessly handled by the ISY-DR to remote servers - such as an OpenADR VTN, Demand Response Automation Server (DRAS), Smart Meters, or a variety of off the shelf devices. The ISY-DR has full support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) and RSA x.509 certificates enabling communications to and from the ISY-DR to be fully secured.

Control Dynamics, an industrial automation, communications, and control system integrator based in Nampa, ID, had this to say about a recent ISY-DR OpenADR 2.0a integration: "Integrating the ISY-DR solution into our Pump Automation Controller (OADR PAC) was quick and easy," said Michael Hardy, Control Dynamics' President. He further added "Our customer was not only able to participate in energy rebates, but now has a solution that saves valuable natural resources and noticeably reduces utility costs." The Universal Devices ISY-DR series provides integrators a low cost automation platform for truly controlling energy costs. The ISY-DR is available today and is fully supported by a robust developer's kit.

For a fully integrated product, the Universal Devices flagship product, the ISY994 is the most powerful automation controller for home, business, and industry. Capable of communicating with a wide variety of off-the-shelf devices such as thermostats, lighting, A/V equipment, and pumps wirelessly using ZigBee, Z-Wave, Insteon, or via Network and direct contacts. In addition the ISY994 series, when properly equipped, can read energy consumption from individual devices and smart meters. Unlike other solutions that use 'the cloud' to process and store information, the ISY994 allows users to keep their information private by running everything local, but yet accessible from a variety of devices.
