Quantum's Alex Grossman to Give Keynote Address on True Cloud-Enabled Workflow at Creative Storage Conference

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 23 June 2014 Release date- 20062014 - SAN JOSE, CA - Quantum Corp. (NYSE: QTM) today announced that Alex Grossman, the company's vice president of Media and Entertainment, will serve as a keynote speaker at the 2014 Creative Storage Conference on June 24 in Culver City, California.

His presentation, 'The Smarter Cloud for Media: More Than Compute and Storage-True Post and Broadcast Production Workflow,' will examine how the cloud can help content creators remain competitive as they address new workflow challenges in content production and delivery while enabling broader collaboration and improved efficiency.

'Content creators in broadcast and post production are under extreme pressure to remain competitive and efficient, even as they embrace higher resolutions such as 4K, new camera formats, a growing range of delivery options, and increasingly distributed collaborative production and approval models,' said Grossman.

'Together, these factors push the limits of traditional content delivery and post-production workflow strategies, as well as the underlying infrastructure that powers these systems. Choosing the right cloud workflow can enable businesses to offload these pressures and become more flexible and agile in completing creative projects.' During his keynote, Grossman will pose basic questions about today's workflows, how they have changed, and the challenges that businesses face in handling remote users, multiple facilities, and the need to accept and deliver content from and to various partners and clients. He will examine issues associated with moving content across organizations-touching on replication, collaborative access, version control, and security-and then look at the cloud and discuss best practices for its use in supporting creative workflows.

Attendees will learn how to choose the correct cloud infrastructure, how the cloud can enable globally dispersed teams to collaborate in real time on creative projects for faster time to market and improved efficiency, and how the cloud can provide a scalable solution for meeting changing levels of demand during the post-production process. The presentation will also outline how the cloud can provide greater security and integrity in content management while allowing users to optimize prior investments and preserve future flexibility.

Grossman has more than two decades of industry experience. Prior to joining Quantum, he was founder and CEO of Active Storage, a developer of media and Apple-centric workflow storage solutions. Grossman previously was an executive within the Worldwide Product Marketing group at Apple, with responsibility for driving the development, marketing and management of Apple server and storage products.

Earlier, he served as senior vice president of sales, marketing and new product development at MicroNet Technology Inc., a developer and manufacturer of storage solutions for creative professionals and IT managers. Grossman has contributed to several patents associated with media management and storage technology, and he led the team that developed the first FireWire-based storage area network.
