Security Innovation Releases "PCI Essentials" the Definitive On-line Security Awareness Training

WILMINGTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

Security Innovation today announced the availability of their PCI (News - Alert) Essentials eLearning program, developed in partnership with the PCI Security Standards Council. Designed to reduce the impact of today's threats to payment card security, PCI Essentials delivers authoritative and relevant guidance to help change unsafe computing habits, establish best practices and build a culture of security.

"Many data breaches are the direct result of uninformed employees that take actions they shouldn't such as clicking on a phishing link or inserting an infected USB thumb drive," said Bob Russo, general manager, PCI SSC. "An effective security awareness program drives behavioral changes by exposing staff to simple measures they can take to reduce risks and help protect sensitive payment data."

"The human factor is the one that most puts organizations at risk", said Dr. Larry Ponemon, Founder of The Ponemon Institute (News - Alert). "Researchshows that most employees are not getting trained on security topics relevant to their job and want short training that ties into their day to day work functions."

PCI Essentials, part of the PCI Security Awareness Education program, equips staff with the knowledge needed to keep customer and other sensitive data secure. The training comprises ten highly interactive modules, each focusing on a critical area of cardholder and information security needed for compliance with the organizational readiness required by the PCI DSS.

"As a long time eLearning partner to the PCI SSC and many other organizations, Security Innovation has created impactful on-line training to help drive behavioral change for people tasked with protecting sensitive data", said Ed Adams, CEO of Security Innovation. "By leveraging proven learning methodologies and creating content that is relevant and memorable, PCI Essentials will have a tangible impact on knowledge retention and staff awareness."

PCI Essentials has been designed for large and small organizations alike. Courses are available through the Security Innovation Education Portal or they can be hosted by organization's own Learning Management Systems. The courses are available directly from Security Innovation or from a growing worldwide network of partners.

Security Innovation also released PCI Insider's Guide to PCI 3.0 earlier this year, which provides a comprehensive review of the intent, interpretation and implementation of the major changes in the newest version of the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) version 3.0.
