Memoir Systems Named a Gartner "Cool Vendor" in Semiconductor, 2014

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Memoir Systems Inc., today announced that it has been named as a "Cool Vendor 2014" in a report1 by Gartner (News - Alert), Inc., the world's leading information technology research and advisory company. Gartner identifies new Cool Vendors each year in key technology areas, and publishes research reports on these innovative vendors and their products and services.

"Memoir is excited and honored to have been selected by Gartner as a Cool Vendor," said Sundar Iyer, co-founder and CEO at Memoir. "Gartner grasps that in the semiconductor industry, innovation, often coming from startups, is the force that keep us moving forward. Physical memory can't meet future application performance demands, and 2012 marked an inflection point for Datacom. In the past 18 months, we have seen strong market growth and rapid adoption of our memory acceleration technology by Cloud, Data-center, traditional Ethernet, Campus, SDN, Enterprise and SAN customers."

Based on Memoir's award-winning Algorithmic Memory® technology, Memoir's Renaissance family of multiport memory IP cores can increase performance of SRAMs by up to 16X more memory operations per second. Renaissance 2X (News - Alert), 4X and 10X memory IP can generate memories with various read/write combinations for up to ten non-blocking active ports to achieve up to 10 billion memory operations per second (MOPS) in 28nm and 16nm processes. Memoir's Renaissance for Datacom offers up to 16X performance and addresses the needs of customers building terabit networking hardware for ext generation datacenters, high performance switches and routers, software defined networks (SDN) and cloud infrastructure. It enables developers of datacom SoCs to rapidly create ultra-high performance memory solutions for fundamental functional blocks including packet buffers, Netflow, policing and state tables, statistics counters, and multi-port FIFOs.

In its analysis Gartner mentions three aspects as cool:

  • Memoir's technology enables SoC engineers to quickly design ultra-high-performance memory solutions, including with a performance of a terabit and beyond, or up to 16 billion memory operations per second (MOPS).
  • Memoir employs an exhaustive formal verification process for its memories that eliminates the need for silicon validation, thereby leading to time and cost savings for the memory designer.
  • Memoir's technology is optimized for a particular process, node and foundry. Its memories use a standard SRAM/DRAM interface with identical pin-out and integrate seamlessly into a standard ASIC design flow, easing the adoption of next-generation process node technology.
