SKIT!, the Top Animated Messaging App, Surpasses 1M Remixable Downloads and Closes New Round of Funding

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/17/14 -- SKIT! (http://www.skitapp.com), the animated messaging app for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets and Kindle tablets, has raised a $500K seed round from investors, including Warner Bros, RMR Capital, Federal Street Angels and Cloud Power Seed Fund. SKIT! will use the seed round to grow and update the apps on all platforms, as well as for increased marketing and business development.

SKIT! is a smartphone and tablet app that helps people create fun animated shorts -- such as memes, remixes and more -- from their own photographs and SKIT!'s ready-to-use backgrounds, props, and other objects. After choosing images, backgrounds and special effects, the creator voices and animates the skit by simply pressing the 20-second record button. People create their own animations and share with friends and family on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and through text messaging, as well sharing with the whole SKIT! community.

"SKIT! is about creating and sharing fun messages with friends. We're helping people transform their photos into messages that move," said co-founder Robin Johnson. "With the seed funding, we're taking SKIT! to the next level and adding more to the features and simplicity of the iOS, Android and Kindle app to spur people's creativity, and unlock a more fun form of personal expression." Through internal data, SKIT! has found that its app had a wide range of ages and devices being used, and is trending toward the highly desired tween and teen market for advertisers and marketers. The SKIT! app is another outlet for creativity, helping people tell their own stories on either smartphones or tablets whenever and wherever they want to tell their own animated stories.

Also, people are able to remix other people's skits -- as well as their own -- and create a full series of animated stories and memes to share on various platforms.

"We're about helping people create their own memes," noted co-founder Max Woon. "Skits get posted, get remixed and commented on by the community -- in fact, we've had one million remixes since we launched! SKIT! is about creativity and having more fun with your photos by making the fun situations." With the funding, SKIT! is launching a new release that will include the ability to: -- Share your creations via Text Message (SMS) -- Get started instantly with the StoryStarter, an idea factory for skit makers -- Dress up your friends with SKIT! Outfits -- Add custom phrases with SKIT! Text -- Way faster photo imports -- Search for images in the SKIT! Gallery, or via the Web -- New graphics, tons of improvements, and bug fixes SKIT! is available for download at http://www.skitapp.com.
