Edgewater Networks Introduces EdgeProtect 4550 Enterprise Session Border Controllers
SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
Edgewater Networks (News - Alert) Inc. announced today that it has expanded its
EdgeProtect Enterprise Session Border Controller (ESBC) product family
with the addition of the EdgeProtect 4550. The EdgeProtect 4550 enables
small and medium business customers to deploy a single appliance for
reliable, ubiquitous, and secure video conferencing that enhances the
communication experience and improves productivity. The EdgeProtect 4550
supports standards-based SIP and H.323 devices and includes support for
mobile video clients using SIP/H.460 far-end NAT traversal.

EdgeProtect's dynamic and managed security policy provides
Enterprise-class security in a SMB package and can be deployed as a
standalone security device or to augment and enhance existing perimeter
security. EdgeProtect provides SIP and H.323 local call control or
secure proxy support for external call control elements, and enhanced
media handling features include shortest path media routing and media
relay when NAT traversal is necessary. EdgeProtect supports WAN or LAN
side gatekeeper configurations to ensure interoperabilit for networks
with existing multi-vendor endpoints or gatekeeper environments,
providing flexibility to choose from best of breed technology and
solutions for videoconferencing. The EdgeProtect 4550 interoperates
seamlessly with many leading vendors including Cisco, LifeSize (News - Alert), Polycom,
Radvision, Tandberg, and Vidyo.
The EdgeProtect 4550 is available immediately in two configurations.
Each configuration provides 1 x 10/100 Ethernet WAN and 4 x 10/100
Ethernet LAN interfaces with support for up to 5 video sessions and up
to 100 registered devices. The upgraded configuration will also include
provide provisioning, WAN-side registration and traversal calls.
