element14 launches Development Kit for Cypress' New PSoC 4 Architecture in China; Easy-to-use Kit includes Connectors for Arduino-Compatible Shields and Digilent PMOD daughter cards
(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Shanghai -- element14 , a distributor of technology products and solutions for electronics system design, maintenance and repair, has launched in China the new PSoC 4 Development Kit from Cypress Semiconductor Corp. The powerful new kit costs RMB116.30, and lets designers discover the capabilities of the new PSoC 4 programmable system-on-chip architecture, which combines Cypress' best-in-class PSoC analog and digital fabric with ARM 's power-efficient Cortex(TM)-M0 core.
The PSoC 4 Development Kit built to the Cypress Pioneer Kit design is highly expandable. It includes connectors for Arduino-compatible shields and Digilent PMOD(TM) daughter cards, enabling customers to pick from a variety of third-party expansion boards. In addition, an onboard PSoC 5LP device serves as the programmer and debugger, eliminating the need for external programmers.
"PSoC 4 is a game-changing product that marries PSoC's unique programmable analog and digital fabric with the powerful, economical ARM Cortex-M0 processor," said John Weil, senior director of PSoC Marketing for Cypress. "This new PSoC 4 Development Kit is the perfect development platform for this architecture because it provides tremendous functionality at a low price. We're very pleased to partner with element14 and Embest to help satisfy pent-up demand for this product from customers in China."
"The PSoC 4 Development Kit provides easy access to the compelling combination of low power ARM M0 and Cypress' user programmable mixed-signal hardware," said David Adams, Senior Director of Technology Development at element14. "We are extremely pleased to collaborate with Cypress to bring this new product to China and excited about the opportunities the near limitless flexibility of PSoC4 offers to the design engineer."
Design engineers enjoy a space to share project concepts with over 200,000 members in the award-winning online community element14 , the first of its kind. Go to - http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-65039
The new PSoC 4 device class will challenge proprietary 8-bit and 16-bit microcontrollers (MCUs), along with other 32-bit devices. Cypress's platform solution PSoC 4, PSoC Creator and PSoC Components simplifies and accelerates the design process, reduces bills of material, and provides extraordinary system value. A single PSoC device can integrate as many as 100 peripheral functions, and "future-proof" designs, enabling designers to transform resources on-the-fly.
The PSoC 4 architecture offers best-in-class power leakage of 150 nA while retaining SRAM memory, programmable logic, and the ability to wake up from an interrupt. In addition to capacitive sensing, PSoC 4 targets field-oriented control (FOC) motor control, temperature sensing, security access, portable medical, and many other applications.
