Prime Factors releases new version of EncryptRIGHT
Oct 22, 2013 (MarketLine via COMTEX) --
Prime Factors, Inc., which develops and markets enterprise encryption and central key management software solutions for security applications, has released a new version of EncryptRIGHT that reportedly gives customers more options for managing cryptographic keys and sensitive data-replacing tokens in their applications.
This increased range gives customers flexibility to apply EncryptRIGHT to their immediate and long term key management needs, using a variety of key management strategies. The new version adds support for SafeNet Luna hardware security modules (HSMs), adding to the strategies of holding keys in software or in Thales nShield HSMs
"The market is now focusing on the quality of encryption keys and their secure lifecycle management as the best hope for keeping data private," said Mark Yakabuski, vice president of Product Management for SafeNet. "The combination of tamper-proof cryptographic key management from SafeNet Luna and the strength of its random number generation with EncryptRIGHT's suite of encryption and key lifecycle management capabilities is an effective method to help address these issues. SafeNet Luna HSMs are built to evolve with customer and partner needs, from EncryptRIGHT interoperability to true HSM-as-a-service capabilities."
When customers use the tokenization capabilities of the suite, the options for managing the token vault include the high-performance proprietary database, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and, with this release, PostgreSQL or MySQL. Changes to both the range of hardware security modules and to the range of backend databases supported are driven by customer requests.
Additional EncryptRIGHT options are added to reduce the cost associated with addressing PCI DSS and other technology audits. Customers can define multiple security domains to segregate tokenization, encryption, and key management policy administration by division, department, group, or even project levels. This greatly reduces scope of review, and associated, by regulatory domain.
Equally welcome, the customers may now programmatically impose restrictions on user administrators such that they cannot modify, add, or delete any other kinds of data protection permissions - a best practice frequently cited by auditors. This release also offers a 'push button' PCI DSS compliance report that can be produced immediately upon request, reducing the labor and cost required to document compliance status.
"We are gratified with the enthusiasm with which customers are integrating EncryptRIGHT into their critical operations," said Prime Factors' President Patrick Riley. "Their excitement is infectious when they tell us how it reduces complexity and cost in their work today and provides the foundation to address their future encryption and key management requirements. That input drives us forward and we are pleased to provide customers the significant new capabilities requested, such as support for SafeNet's Luna HSM, so soon after the last major release."
