Diameter to MAP Interworking: Ease Migration to LTE/EPC/Diameter Signaling and Protect Investment in Existing Network Infrastructure

Diameter to MAP interworking provides enhanced roaming capability and eases the migration to LTE/EPC network topologies.

As service providers continue the rapid deployment of LTE/EPC, providing enhanced capabilities to their subscribers, a problem arises when these subscribers roam to non LTE/EPC/Diameter-based networks, i.e. 2G/3G networks. The network architectures and the underlying protocols used within each of these networks are different.

The SEGway UDR, including Diameter to MAP interworking, solves the issue of subscriber roaming to disparate networks by fully supporting the 3GPP 129.305 specification for interworking between Diameter and MAP, allowing LTE/EPC subscribers to roam seamlessly between LTE/EPC networks and 2G/3G networks.
