FairPoint Communications, Inc., a wholesale telecommunications provider in northern New England, has added an additional carrier Ethernet connection hub in New York City featuring one-stop access to FairPoint's footprint in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
According to a release, with a location at One Summer Street in Boston and now at 60 Hudson Street in New York City, FairPoint is extending its carrier Ethernet network to meet carriers that may have previously lacked connection facilities to and from northern New England.
FairPoint reported that its wholesale customers can deliver Ethernet services to their northern New England customers via FairPoint's diverse network paths. FairPoint's next-generation Ethernet network spans more than 15,000 route miles of fiber and offers class of service and quality of service capabilities that enable carriers to better manage their traffic demands while connecting to their customers.
"FairPoint has the largest owned and managed fiber network in northern New England, with more than 86 percent of our central offices enabled for carrier Ethernet services," said Tony Tomae, executive vice president and chief revenue officer. "Now, with carrier Ethernet services connections in both Boston and New York City, FairPoint's ubiquitous network offers carriers the ability to seamlessly connect with their northern New England business customers."
Additionally, FairPoint's wholesale business team will be on hand at the Comptel Plus Fall 2013 Convention & Expo to discuss the new access and flexibility that carrier Ethernet connections provide to the wholesale market.
